Robin R. Christiansen
Robin R. Christiansen (born September 4, 1950) is an American politician currently serving as the mayor of Dover, Delaware. He was elected mayor in a special election on June 17, 2014, and took office on June 25, 2014. Christiansen had previously served on the city council of Dover from 1983 to 2001, serving as council president and vice mayor from 1990 to 2001. Early life Christiansen was born on September 4, 1950. Christiansen graduated from Dover High School in 1968 and attended Delaware State University, where he majored in history and political science. Career He has worked for Safeway Inc., retiring in 1987, and also worked for SimplexGrinnell for 27 years before retiring. Christiansen was elected to Dover City Council in May 1983 and served until May 2001. From May 1990 to May 2001, Christiansen served as council president and vice mayor. Dover () is the capital and second-largest city of the U.S. state of Delaware. It is also the county seat of Kent County and the principal city of the Dover, DE, Metropolitan Statistical Area, which encompasses all of Kent County and is part of the Philadelphia– Wilmington– Camden, PA– NJ–DE– MD, Combined Statistical Area. Jack Markell
Jack Alan Markell (born November 26, 1960) is an American politician who currently serves as the United States ambassador to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. He previously served as the 73rd governor of Delaware from 2009 to 2017. He is a member of the Democratic Party. Markell served three terms as the state treasurer of Delaware from 1999 to 2009. After term-limited Governor Ruth Ann Minner was prevented from running for reelection, Markell announced his intention to run. Carleton E. Carey Sr. (born 1943) is an American politician who served as the Mayor of Dover, Delaware, the capital of the U.S. state of Delaware, from 2007 to 2014. Carey is Dover's third full-time mayor. Incumbent Dover Mayor, Stephen Speed, resigned from office on July 22, 2007, to become director of the aviation program at Delaware State University. Dover was required by law to hold a special mayoral election within thirty to sixty days from Speed's resignation. Dover High School is a high school located in Dover, Delaware. It is a part of the Capital School District. Communities served include the majority of Dover, as well as Cheswold, Hartly, Little Creek, and about half of Leipsic. Dover High School's principal is Courtney Voshell. Special programs Dover High School offers a program for students to become certified nursing assistantss. Since 2006, members of Dover High's Japanese Club have participated in a cultural exchange program with its sister school located in Kakuda, Japan.
