Robin Mann (musician)
Robin Mann (born 1949) is an Australian Christian singer, songwriter and theologian. His career started in 1969 with Kindekrist. Mann's music is distinctly Australian, and much of it is written to be easily sung by congregations. His music has been published in many Christian music books, including the ''All Together Now'' series and ''Together in Song''. Kindekrist
Formed in 1970, Kindekrist was Australia's first Christian rock band. The band brought together musicians from different musical styles – folk, country rock, classical, pop and rock – and theological traditions (Lutheran, Presbyterian and Methodist). The band's name derived from the German for "Children of Christ", reflecting the Lutheran roots of the lead singer, Robin Mann. It was formed at Scots Church (then Presbyterian) and played regularly in Lutheran, Presbyterian, Methodist, Baptist, Salvation Army, Catholic and Anglican churches, including the weekly student worship service at St Stephen's Lutheran Church, Adelaide. Kindekrist's music reflected both a concern for issues of social justice as well as expressing more spiritual and religious themes. In this, it paralleled the themes of the contemporary US Jesus Movement, which itself spawned the development of Jesus Music that later evolved into Contemporary Christian Music. Together In Song
''Together in Song: Australian Hymn Book II'' () was published in 1999. It is a book of 783 psalms, hymns and spiritual songs for use in Christian worship in Australia and elsewhere. It is a significant revision of The Australian Hymn Book published 22 years earlier. It was created by an ecumenical editorial committee chaired by Canon Dr. Lawrence Bartlett and containing representatives from the Anglican, Churches of Christ, Lutheran, Presbyterian, Roman Catholic and Uniting churches. Major changes include modernising the texts (using inclusive language and reducing archaic language), removing hymns that had fallen out of use, emphasising psalms, and adding of more modern musical settings and worship songs. The book also reflects changes agreed by the English Language Liturgical Consultation in 1988. Australian Lutheran College (ALC), formerly Luther Seminary and Lutheran Teachers College, is a higher education institution serving the Lutheran Church of Australia and a registered teaching institution of University of Divinity. It is located in North Adelaide, South Australia on the corner of Ward and Jeffcott streets. The campus includes a number of single and shared accommodation blocks, a library, a refectory as well as educational facilities. Although still primarily a theological college, it is also open to students studying at Adelaide University, the University of South Australia, Flinders University, or TAFE, a paradigm reflected in the name change of 2004.
