Robin H. Carle
Robin Hewlett Carle (born June 1, 1955) served as the thirty-second Clerk of the U.S. House of Representatives. Carle was the first woman to hold the position. Biography Carle is a native of New Mexico. She attended Macalester College in Saint Paul, Minnesota. She was executive Secretary then Chief of Staff for the Department of Health and Human Services under George H. W. Bush. She was Clerk of the U.S. House of Representatives from 1995 to 1999. The Clerk of the United States House of Representatives is an officer of the United States House of Representatives, whose primary duty is to act as the chief record-keeper for the House. Along with the other House officers, the Clerk is elected every two years when the House organizes for a new Congress. The majority and minority caucuses nominate candidates for the House officer positions after the election of the Speaker. Louis Wade Sullivan (born November 3, 1933) is an active health policy leader, minority health advocate, author, physician, and educator. He served as the Secretary of the United States Department of Health and Human Services during President George H. W. Bush's Administration and was Founding Dean of the Morehouse School of Medicine. Biography He was born in Atlanta, Georgia, although his parents moved to rural Blakely, Georgia, shortly after he was born. His father was a mortician and his mother a teacher. Jeffrey Joseph Trandahl (born September 15, 1964) served as the thirty-third Clerk of the U.S. House of Representatives. He was elected Clerk on January 6, 1999, and held office until November 18, 2005.
