Robin Aspegren
Robin Alexander Aspegren (born 24 March 1989) is a former motorcycle speedway rider from Sweden. Career During the 2006 Swedish speedway season, he won the Swedish Speedway Team Championship with Vetlanda. He made his debut in Britain, when joining Newport Wasps for the 2010 Premier League speedway season. He also spent the 2011 season with the Welsh club before moving to Swindon Robins in the Elite League and Berwick Bandits in the Premier League for the 2012 season. His final season was 2015, when he rode for Rye House Rockets The Rye House Rockets were a speedway team based at Rye House Stadium, Hoddesdon, England. Vetlanda
Vetlanda () is a locality and the seat of Vetlanda Municipality, Jönköping County, Sweden with 13,050 inhabitants in 2010. History Vetlanda was still nothing more than a village for several centuries. With the 1840s population boom in Småland, and the industrial revolution winning ground in Sweden, the industry expanded and people settled in the village. With the railways crossing Vetlanda in the late 19th century the population further blossomed, and Vetlanda got the title of a city on New Year's Day 1920, at which time its population amounted to 3,015. The Swedish Speedway Team Championship is the team championship of speedway in Sweden. Season by season History The Championship was introduced in 1950. In 1982 the Championship was renamed with a new league called the Elitserien being introduced. previously the highest league had been known as the Allsvenskan but since 1982 it has been the second tier of Swedish speedway. Between 1986 and 1999 the team that finished top of the league were declared champions because there was no play off. The Premier League was the second tier of Motorcycle speedway, speedway in the United Kingdom (with the exception of the 1995 and 1996 seasons) and governed by The Speedway Control Bureau (SCB), in conjunction with the British Speedway Promoters' Association (BSPA). The Premier League was founded in 1995 when the two divisions of the British League were amalgamated. In 1997, the Elite League (speedway), Elite League was created as a new top tier with the Premier League becoming the second tier. The league operated until 2016 when British speedway was restructured with the formation of the SGB Premiership and SGB Championship. As of 2016, there were 13 teams competing in this tier of British Speedway, contesting 6 competitions for silverware. Elite League (speedway)
The Elite League was the top division of speedway league competition in the United Kingdom, governed by the Speedway Control Bureau (SCB), in conjunction with the British Speedway Promoters' Association (BSPA). It was sponsored by Sky Sports until the end of the 2013 season. In 2016, the Elite League featured 8 teams, unlike 10 in 2014, during a season which ran between March and October. Each team had a designated race day on which they normally staged their home fixtures, and they regularly had home and away fixtures scheduled in the same week. The 2010 Premier League Season was the second division of British speedway. The regular season league was won by the Edinburgh Monarchs but Newcastle Diamonds won the playoffs. The first fixtures of the season took place on 5 April, and the season ended on 31 October 2010. The King's Lynn Stars were the defending champions from 2009. Motorcycle Speedway
Motorcycle speedway, usually referred to simply as speedway, is a motorcycle sport involving four and sometimes up to six riders competing over four anti-clockwise laps of an oval circuit. The motorcycles are specialist machines that use only one gear and have no brakes. Racing takes place on a flat oval track usually consisting of dirt, loosely packed shale, or crushed rock (mostly used in Australia and New Zealand). Competitors use this surface to slide their machines sideways, powersliding or broadsiding into the bends. On the straight sections of the track, the motorcycles reach speeds of up to . Vetlanda Speedway were a motorcycle speedway team based in Vetlanda, Sweden. Earlier known as Njudungarna and VMS Elit, the club was formed in 1946, and arranged their first meeting three years later. In 2003 when the club was promoted to the top division of Swedish speedway league, the Elitserien Elitserien (literally, "the Elite League") is the name of several Swedish nationwide sport leagues. The Rye House Rockets were a speedway team based at Rye House Stadium, Hoddesdon, England. They competed in various British speedway leagues from 1954 to 2018.
