Roberto Ramos (baseball)
Roberto Ramos (born December 28, 1994) is a Mexican professional baseball first baseman for the Guerreros de Oaxaca of the Mexican League. He has previously played in the KBO League for the LG Twins. Amateur career Born and raised in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico, Ramos graduated from San Fernando High School in San Fernando, California, moving there prior to his junior year. In 2013, his senior year, he batted .429 with 11 home runs and 43 RBIs. Undrafted in the 2013 Major League Baseball draft, he enrolled at College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita, California, where he played college baseball. As a freshman in 2014, he batted .317 with seven home runs and 31 RBIs in 37 games. A first baseman, abbreviated 1B, is the player on a baseball or softball team who fields the area nearest first base, the first of four bases a baserunner must touch in succession to score a run. The Lancaster JetHawks were a baseball team located in Lancaster, California. They were named for the city's association with the aerospace industry and played their home games at The Hangar. The Modesto Nuts are a Minor League Baseball team of the California League and the Single-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners. They are located in Modesto, California, and are named for the several types of nuts grown in the region. They play their home games at John Thurman Field, which opened in 1955. The Asheville Tourists are a Minor League Baseball team of the South Atlantic League and the High-A affiliate of the Houston Astros. They are located in Asheville, North Carolina. College Baseball
College baseball is baseball that is played on the intercollegiate level at institutions of higher education. In comparison to football and basketball, college competition in the United States plays a smaller role in developing professional players, as baseball's professional minor leagues are more extensive, with a greater history of supplying players to MLB. Moving directly from high school to the professional level is more common in baseball than in football or basketball. However, if players do opt to enroll at a four-year college to play baseball, they must complete three years to regain professional eligibility, unless they reach age 21 before starting their third year of college.
