Roberto Premier
Roberto Premier (born 1958) is an Italian former professional basketball player and basketball coach. At a height of 1.97 m (6 ft 5 in) tall, he played at the shooting guard and small forward positions. He was the FIBA Saporta Cup Finals Top Scorer, in 1984. Professional career Premier played with Gorizia Pallacanestro (1978–1981), Olimpia Milano (1981–1989), and Pallacanestro Virtus Roma (1989–1994). Premier won 5 Italian League championships (1982, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1989), 2 Italian Cups (1986, 1987), 2 FIBA European Champions Cup ( EuroLeague) titles (1987, 1988), 1 FIBA Korać Cup (1985), and 1 FIBA Intercontinental Cup (1987), while playing with Olimpia Milano. While playing with Pallacanestro Virtus Roma, he won the FIBA Korać Cup (1992). EuroBasket 1991
The 1991 FIBA European Championship, commonly called FIBA EuroBasket 1991, was the 27th FIBA EuroBasket regional basketball championship, held by FIBA Europe. It was held in Italy between 24 and 29 June 1991. Eight national teams entered the event under the auspices of FIBA Europe, the sport's regional governing body. The Palazzo dello Sport in Rome was the hosting venue of the tournament. Yugoslavia won its fifth FIBA European title by defeating hosts Italy with an 88–73 score in the final. Yugoslavia's Toni Kukoč was voted the tournament's MVP. The 1986 FIBA World Championship was the 10th FIBA World Championship, the international basketball world championship for men's teams. It was hosted by Spain and was held from 5 to 20 July 1986. The final phase of the tournament was held at the Palacio de Deportes de la Comunidad, Madrid. They were classified as the official men's basketball event of the 1986 Goodwill Games, held simultaneously in Moscow. Basketball at the 1984 Summer Olympics was the eleventh appearance of the sport of basketball as an official Olympic medal event. It took place at The Forum in Inglewood, California, United States from July 29 to August 10. The United States won the gold medal in both events, with the women's team's victory marking their first-ever gold medal. Due to the boycott, the Soviet Union and Hungary withdrew from the tournament. The former, having already qualified for both events was replaced by West Germany in the men's competition, while both nations' women's teams were replaced by Australia and South Korea. Pallacanestro Virtus Roma, commonly known as Virtus Roma, was an Italian professional basketball club based in Rome, Lazio. It competed in the first division of Italian basketball, the LBA, for the last time in the 2020–21 season. It was formerly a major side in Europe, winning the 1983–84 FIBA European Champions Cup ( EuroLeague), and at one time being one of only 13 clubs to hold a EuroLeague A license. However, its standing later waned, and Virtus became less competitive in both Europe and the domestic LBA - which it had won in 1983 – before being voluntarily relegated to the Italian second division in July 2015.
