Roberto Gerlein Echeverría
Roberto Víctor Gerlein Echeverría (18 November 1938 – 23 December 2021) was a Colombian lawyer and politician. A Colombian Conservative Party, Conservative party politician, he was the longest-serving and most senior Member of the Senate of Colombia having been first elected in 1974. During his long political career, he served also as a Member of the Chamber of Representatives of Colombia, Chamber of Representatives (1968–1974), as the 10th Ministry of Economic Development (Colombia), Colombian Minister of Economic Development, and as the 42nd Governor of Atlántico. The Senate of the Republic of Colombia ( es, Senado de la República de Colombia) is the upper house of the Congress of Colombia, with the lower house being the House of Representatives. The Senate has 108 members elected for concurrent (non-rotating) four-year terms. Electoral system According to the Colombian Constitution, 100 senators (''senadores'') are elected from a single national constituency. The remaining two are elected in a special national constituency for Indigenous communities. Fuad Ricardo Char Abdala (born 5 October 1937) is a Senator of Colombia serving his fifth term in Congress, albeit not all consecutively. He is the founder of . Family Fuad was the son of Ricardo Char Zaslawy, an immigrant from Lebanon who arrived in Colombia in 1926, and Erlinda Abdala a daughter of Lebanese immigrants.
