Robert Wilmot (Gaelic Footballer)
Robert P. Wilmot (born 1954) is an Irish retired hurler and Gaelic footballer who played for Cork Championship club Bandon and at inter5-county level with the Cork senior football team. He usually lined out at wing-back or midfield. Career Wilmot first came to prominence as a dual player with the Bandon club. At St. Brogan's the Bandon underage section he came close to success but lost county minor hurling finals in 1969 and 1972.Then at Under-21 club level Bandon got to two county under-21 finals in 1973 (Football) and 1975 (Hurling) and winning five consecutive West Cork MHC titles before later winning Cork JFC (as captain) and Cork IHC titles. Wilmot first appeared on the inter-county scene as a dual player with the respective Cork minor teams. Bandon GAA
Bandon GAA is a Gaelic football and Hurling club based in Bandon in County Cork, Republic of Ireland. The club is affiliated with Carbery division of Cork. In 2007, Bandon won the West Cork Junior A Football Championship, beating Muintir Bhaire in the final. The club's hurling team meanwhile were runners-up in the Cork Intermediate Hurling Championship. They beat Kanturk in the semi-final but were overcome by Fr. O'Neill's in the final. In 2016 Bandon won the Cork Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship beating Fermoy in the final. The club's football team meanwhile won the Cork Intermediate Football Championship. They beat Rockchapel in the final to achieve the "double". Munster Senior Football Championship
The Munster Senior Football Championship, known simply as the Munster Championship and shortened to Munster SFC, is an annual inter-county Gaelic football competition organised by the Munster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the highest inter-county Gaelic football competition in the province of Munster, and has been contested every year, bar one, since the 1888 championship. The final, currently held on the fourth Saturday in June, serves as the culmination of a series of games played during May and June, and the results determine which team receives the Munster Cup. The 1971 All-Ireland Minor Hurling Championship was the 41st staging of the All-Ireland Minor Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1928. The championship ran from 16 May to 5 September 1971. Cork entered the championship as the defending champions. The All-Ireland final was played at Croke Park in Dublin on 5 September 1971 between Cork and Kilkenny, in what was their fifth All-Ireland final meeting overall and a first in two years. The Munster GAA Hurling Minor Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the Electric Ireland Munster GAA Hurling Minor Championship) is an annual inter-county hurling competition organised by the Munster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). Munster Minor Football Championship
The Munster Minor Football Championship is an annual Gaelic football competition organised by the Munster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association since 1928 for the youngest competitors (under-18) in the province of Munster in Ireland. It is currently sponsored by Electric Ireland and therefore officially known as the Electric Ireland Munster GAA Football Minor Championship. The series of games are played during the summer months with the Munster final currently being played on the second Sunday in July. The minor final provides the curtain-raiser to the senior final. The winning team is presented with the Tadhg Crowley Cup. The 1974 All-Ireland Under-21 Football Championship was the 11th staging of the All-Ireland Under-21 Football Championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1964. Kerry entered the championship as defending champions, however, they were defeated by Cork in the Munster final.
