Robert W. Peterson (North Dakota)
Robert W. Peterson (January 18, 1929 – April 18, 2013) was an U.S. politician serving as a public servant and politician from North Dakota. A member of the North Dakota Republican Party, Republican Party, he served as the North Dakota State Auditor from 1973 to 1996. Prior to his tenure as Auditor, he served in the North Dakota House of Representatives from 1967 to 1972. His son, Robert R. Peterson, was his successor as State Auditor; he began serving in 1997. Biography Peterson was born in Williston, North Dakota. He was the eldest of four boys born to Carsten and Clara (Solfest) Peterson. He was a graduate of Williston High School (North Dakota), Williston High School (1947), Concordia College (Moorhead), Concordia College, and the University of North Dakota with a master's degree in business administration. Robert Randall Peterson (born September 26, 1951 in Fargo, North Dakota) is a North Dakota public servant and politician with the Republican Party who served as North Dakota State Auditor from 1997 to 2016. He was also a Presidential Elector for the state in 1996. His father, Robert W. Peterson, was his predecessor as State Auditor; he served from 1973 to 1996. Biography Bob Peterson is a graduate of Williston High School. He received his Associate in Arts degree from UND-Williston and his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of North Dakota. He also took classes in accounting at the University of Mary. He served as the accounting and budget specialist for the North Dakota State Land Department from 1978 to 1996 when he was elected as North Dakota State Auditor.
