Robert Vaughan (minister)
Robert Vaughan (1795–1868) was an English minister of the Congregationalist communion, academic, college head and writer, from a Welsh background. He was professor of history in the London University, and then president of the Independent College, Manchester. He founded, and for a time edited, the '' British Quarterly''. Life Vaughan was born in the West of England on 14 October 1795, to Anglican parents. He came under the influence of William Thorp (1771–1833), Independent minister at Castle Green, Bristol, who trained him for the ministry: Thorp influenced his early style of preaching, which was declamatory and active. While still a student he was invited (1819) by the Independent congregation in Angel Street, Worcester, accepted the call in April, and was ordained on 4 July, among his ordainers being William Jay and John Angell James. Robert Vaughan Gorle Victoria Cross, VC (6 May 1896 – 9 January 1937) was an England, English recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to United Kingdom, British and Commonwealth of Nations, Commonwealth forces. Gorle was born in Southsea on 6 May 1896 and educated at Malvern College and Rugby School. Prior to the World War I, First World War was a farmer in South Africa. Captain Gorle was promoted to temporary lieutenant in "A" Battery, 50th Brigade, Royal Field Artillery, British Army at Ledegem, Ledeghem, Belgium, during the First World War when he performed the deed for which he was awarded the Victoria Cross. Robert Vaughn (Montana Rancher)
Robert Vaughn (born Robert Vaughan; June 5, 1836 – March 23, 1918) was a Welsh immigrant to the United States and an important rancher, farmer, and businessman in the U.S. state of Montana before and after the early years of its statehood. He homesteaded the Vaughn ranch in the Sun River valley in Montana, building a sandstone mansion as his home there. The town of Vaughn, Montana, is named in his honor, and helped co-found the city of Great Falls, Montana. He built the Arvon Block, a hotel and stable in Great Falls, one of the city's earliest buildings; the ranch and the hotel are both listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Robert Alfred Vaughan (1823–1857) was an English Congregationalist minister and author. Life The eldest child of Robert Vaughan (minister), Robert Vaughan, he was born at Worcester, England, Worcester on 18 March 1823, a seven-months child who was frail. His father began his education, and he entered University College school, London, in 1836 at age 13. Passing on to University College, London, University College, he graduated B.A. at the age of 19 (1842) with classical honours, in London University. In 1843 he became a student at the Lancashire Independent College, under his father's presidency. Having finished his course in Manchester, and become engaged to be married, Vaughan spent a session (1846–7) at the University of Halle, coming under the influence of Julius Müller (theologian), Julius Müller and August Tholuck. Grampound in Cornwall, was a borough constituency of the House of Commons of England, House of Commons of the Parliament of England, then of the Parliament of Great Britain from 1707 to 1800 and of the Parliament of the United Kingdom from 1801 to 1821. Robert Vaughan is an American writer. He has authored over 200 books. He won the 1977 Porgie Award (Best Paperback Original) for ''The Power and the Pride''. He has also written a series of contemporary and historical romance novels under several pseudonyms including "Paula Moore" and "Paula Fairman". He wrote the novelization for the television movie '' Andersonville''.
