Robert Tucker (1832–1905) was an English mathematician, who was secretary of the London Mathematical Society for more than 30 years. Life and work Son of a soldier who fought in the Peninsular War, Tucker studied at St. John's College, Cambridge, where he was 35th wrangler in 1855. He mastered mathematics at University College London from 1865 to 1899. He is known by the now known as ''Tucker circles'', a family of circles Invariant (mathematics), invariant on parallel displacing. He is also known by his edition of the Mathematical Papers of William Kingdon Clifford in 1882. Tucker acted as secretary of the London Mathematical Society from 1867 to 1902. He was also a collector of mathematician's photographs. Colonel Robert Tucker was a member of the House of Burgesses who represented Norfolk County, Virginia, a mariner, and a slave owner. His father, mother and uncle, from the Caribbean, had an extensive mercantile trade and a number of ships that sailed throughout Chesapeake Bay and the Caribbean. In 1737, Robert Tucker inherited the mercantile empire and slaves that were crew members on ships. He was active in politics from the time that Norfolk, Virginia was established as a town. He became the first alderman and was a mayor three times. His role as alderman, a lifetime role, gave him a lot of power to determine how business would be conducted. Arthur Wilson "Bob" Tucker (November 23, 1914 – October 6, 2006) was an American author who became well known as a writer of mystery, action adventure, and science fiction under the name Wilson Tucker. Tucker was also a prominent member of science fiction fandom, who wrote extensively for fanzines under the name Bob Tucker, a family nickname bestowed in childhood (his own mispronunciation of the nickname "Bub"). He became a prominent analyst and critic of the field, as well as the coiner of such terms as "space opera". Robert Louis Tucker (born June 8, 1945) is an American former professional football player who was a tight end in the National Football League (NFL). A 6'3", 230 lbs. tight end from Bloomsburg University, Tucker played for 11 seasons in the NFL, from 1970 to 1980, for the New York Giants and the Minnesota Vikings. Tucker is one of the few Giants to play for the team in four different home stadiums: Yankee Stadium (1970 through the first two home games of 1973); the Yale Bowl (last five home games of 1973 and all of 1974); Shea Stadium (1975) and Giants Stadium (1976–77).
