Robert Trethewey
Robert Hugh Trethewey (17 October 1902 – 31 May 1989) was an Australian politician. He was born in Eaglehawk to mining engine driver Robert Hugh Trethewey and Louise Turnbull. He received his education at Eaglehawk State School, at Bendigo High School, and at Bendigo Business College. In 1918 he commenced work for the New Zealand Insurance Company (NZI). On 16 October 1926 he married Isabella Nancarrow, with whom he had two sons. He rose through the ranks of NZI and managed branches in Bendigo (1940–46, 1948–62), Maryborough (1946–48) and Toowoomba (1948). Eaglehawk, Victoria
Eaglehawk is a suburb within the City of Greater Bendigo and a former gold-mining town in Victoria, Australia. The town is situated to the north-west of Bendigo on the Loddon Valley Highway. The highway is known locally as High Street until the intersection with Sailors Gully Road (Bendigo - Pyramid Road) and as Peg Leg Road to the west. Located on this intersection is Brassey Square which is the location of the town hall. Next to the town hall is the former post office and the Mechanics' Institute. To the north of the intersection on Napier Street is Canterbury Park and Lake Neangar while the Swan Hill railway line and the local railway station are located to the south. Bendigo Senior Secondary College (BSSC), is an Australian government-funded co-educational secondary school for Year 11 and Year 12 students located in the centre of Bendigo, Victoria. It is the largest provider of VCE, VET and VCAL in the state of Victoria. Bill Galvin (Australian Politician)
Leslie William Galvin (30 April 1903 – 1 July 1966) was an Australian politician. He was a Labor Party member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly for Bendigo from 1945 to 1955 when he was defeated at the state election, then regained the seat in 1958 until 1964. Galvin was born in the Sydney suburb of Woollahra, and was educated at Petersham Commercial School until his family moved to Melbourne, where he continued his education at Scotch College.
