Robert Porter (c. 1825 – 1902) was an alderman and mayor of Brisbane Municipal Council, Queensland, Australia. Personal life Robert Porter was born about 1825–1826 in London, England. Robert Porter married Sarah Martha Elizabeth Trowbridge (born about 1823–1824 in Salisbury, England). They arrived in Brisbane in 1860 and settled in the home, Corio, in Wharf Street, Kangaroo Point, Queensland, Kangaroo Point in which they lived for the rest of their lives. Robert Ker Porter
Sir Robert Ker Porter, KCH (1777–1842) was a Scottish artist, author, diplomat and traveller. Known today for his accounts of his travels in Russia, Spain, and Persia, he was one of the earliest panorama painters in Britain, was appointed historical painter to Tsar Alexander I of Russia and served as British consul in Venezuela. Early life Porter was born in Durham in 1777, one of the five children of the Scot William Porter, an army surgeon. His sisters were the writers Jane Porter and Anna Maria Porter. His father died in 1779, and the following year his mother took him to Edinburgh, although he attended Durham School. He decided that he wanted to become a painter of battle scenes, and in 1790 his mother took him to see Benjamin West, who thought enough of his sketches to procure him admission as a student at the Royal Academy. Robert Hugh Porter (born 1955) is an American economist and William R. Kenan, Jr. Professor of economics at Northwestern University. His research focuses on industrial organisation and auctions. Education Porter received his undergraduate degree from the University of Western Ontario's Department of Mathematics and Economics in 1976. He went on to further study at Princeton University, which granted him a Ph. D. in economics in 1981. Career Upon graduating from Princeton University, Porter worked as an assistant professor at the University of Minnesota, followed by a brief stint as an associate professor at Stony Brook University. Robert Porter (June 20, 1940 – April 10, 2021) was an American record producer, discographer, writer, and radio presenter. He was responsible for reissuing many classic blues and jazz recordings, and in 2009 was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame. Bob Porter was born in Wellesley, Massachusetts.Biographical note AllMusic. Robert William Porter (August 13, 1926 – November 6, 1991) was a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas. Education and career Born in Monmouth, Illinois, Porter was in the United States Navy during World War II, from 1944 to 1946. He received an Artium Baccalaureus degree from Monmouth College in 1949 and a Juris Doctor from the University of Michigan Law School in 1952. He was home office counsel of the Reserve Life Insurance Company in Dallas, Texas from 1952 to 1954. He then went into private practice as an attorney in Dallas from 1954 to 1974. Robert Porter (after 1603–1648) was a sword-cutler in Birmingham who supported the Parliamentary cause in the English Civil War. Biography Robert Porter was the third son of Henry Porter (died c. 1619) and Anne, daughter of William Colmore, of New Hall, Birmingham. At the start of the Civil War started Porter owned a water mill called Town Mill in Digbeth Street, Birmingham. It was located on a stream below Malt, or Moat, Mill which was fed by waters from the moat of the manor house of Birmingham and then flowed into the River Rea.
