Robert Parry (poet)
Robert Parry (1540–1612) was a Welsh poet, romancier and translator who published the romance ''Moderatus'' and a collection of verse entitled ''Sinetes Passions'', which may have influenced Shakespeare's sonnets. Life Parry was a member of the local gentry of Denbighshire, Wales. He was the son of Harry ap Robert. He married Dorothy the daughter of John Wynn Panton. His patron was Sir John Salusbury, the local leader of a group of poets dedicated to mystical and acrostic verse. Parry's nephew later married Sir John's daughter Oriana. His diary has survived, providing useful information about Elizabethan culture and politics in Wales. It also indicates that he travelled widely. He was regularly in London and in 1600 he went to Italy where he stayed for six months. Robert Parry (politician)
Robert Parry (8 January 1933 – 9 March 2000) was a British Labour Party politician who was Member of Parliament in Liverpool for 27 years. In 1963, he was elected to Liverpool City Council for the Central ward, one of the safest Labour wards in Liverpool. Parry was elected to Parliament at the 1970 election for Liverpool Exchange and served until his retirement in 1997, from 1974 in Liverpool Scotland Exchange, then from 1983 for Liverpool Riverside. He retired from Parliament at the 1997 general election. He was known as a hard-line left-winger who opposed any policy moves which he saw as edging Labour away from pure socialism. He once branded Neil Kinnock a "traitor" over the latter's denunciation of the Militant tendency activists who dominated local government on Merseyside. In 1992, Parry was arrested in Beijing when he and his colleagues unfurled a banner in Tiananmen Square protesting the shootings which had taken place there in 1989. Robert Earle Parry (June 24, 1949 – January 27, 2018) was an American investigative journalist. He was known for his role in covering the Iran–Contra affair for the Associated Press (AP) and ''Newsweek'', including breaking the Psychological Operations in Guerrilla Warfare (CIA manual provided to the Nicaraguan contras) and the CIA involvement in Contra cocaine trafficking, CIA involvement in Contra cocaine trafficking in the U.S. scandal in 1985. He was awarded the George Polk Awards, George Polk Award for National Reporting in 1984 and the I. F. Stone, I.F. Robert Leslie "Bob" Parry is an Australian former cricket umpire. Parry umpired in One Day Internationals and Twenty20 Internationals as well as in Australian domestic cricket from 1998 until 2012.
