Morganton is a city in and the county seat of Burke County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 16,918 at the 2010 census. Morganton is approximately northwest of Charlotte. Morganton is one of the principal cities in the Hickory-Lenoir-Morganton, NC Metropolitan Statistical Area. A site five miles north of Morganton has been identified as the Mississippian culture chiefdom of Joara, occupied from AD 1400 to AD 1600. Freedom High School (North Carolina)
Freedom High School is located in Morganton, North Carolina. Design Freedom High School opened for its students in the 1973–1974 school year. It had an open classroom floor plan (no walls between classes). There are now 'half walls' separating classes so that one class can no longer see into another, though students are still able to hear other classes.
