Robert Reginald Livingston Jr. (August 4, 1888 – November 7, 1962), was an American politician and farmer from New York. Early life Livingston was born on August 4, 1888, at Clermont in Columbia County. He was a son of Robert Reginald Livingston Sr. (1858–1899) of Northwood, and Mary Elizabeth (née Tailer) Livingston (1863–1944). After his father's death, his mother lived at her New York home, 11 Washington Square North (built by her grandfather Thomas Suffern in 1833, and host to President Ulysses S. Grant in her childhood) and later at 1192 Park Avenue. His sister, Laura Suffern Livingston, married Howland Shippen Davis (executive vice president of the New York Stock Exchange), in 1914. They owned the "Teviot" estate (built in 1843 by Eugene Livingston) in Tivoli, which their son Howland later sold to Jann Wenner, publisher of ''Rolling Stone'' magazine. Robert Linlithgow Livingston Jr. (born April 30, 1943) is an American lobbyist and politician who served as a U.S. Representative from Louisiana from 1977 to 1999. Robert Cambridge Livingston (November 3, 1908 – April 2, 1974) was an American ice hockey player who competed in the 1932 Winter Olympics. Robert Burr Livingston (October 9, 1918 – April 26, 2002) was an American physician, neuroscientist, and social activist. Early life Livingston was born on October 9, 1918 in Boston. He completed his undergraduate studies (in 1940), medical degree (in 1944), and residency at Stanford University. Career As a Naval Reserve officer, Livingston served in Okinawa and earned a Bronze Star during World War II. His experience as a physician in a United States Navy hospital during the Atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki lead him to a lifelong opposition to nuclear arms. He was co-founder and President of the San Diego chapter of Physicians for Social Responsibility. After the war he joined the Yale University college of medicine as a professor of physiology. Robert Edward Randall (December 9, 1904 – March 7, 1988) was an American film actor known under his stage name, Robert Livingston. He appeared in 136 films between 1921 and 1975. He was one of the original Three Mesquiteers. He had also played The Lone Ranger and Zorro. Life and career Livingston was born in Quincy, Illinois, and died in Tarzana, California, from emphysema at age 83. Often billed as "Bob Livingston," he was the original "Stony Brooke" in the " Three Mesquiteers" Western B-movie series, a role later played by John Wayne for eight films. Robert C. Livingston (January 28, 1933 – January 2, 2021) was an American Zen teacher. Biography Livingston was born in New York City in January 1933. He grew up in New York, California and Texas, and graduated from Cornell University. He spent two years in Japan and Korea in the U.S. Army in the early 1950s, and studied and travelled in Europe after his Army discharge. After three years as a registered representative of the New York Stock Exchange, he returned to Europe where he was head of an international financial services corporation for ten years. He then retired from the business world and began practising Zen with Master Taisen Deshimaru in Paris. He became a close disciple of Deshimaru, who made Livingston a Zen teacher. Robert Livingston the Younger (1663 – April 1725), sometimes known as Robert Livingston Jr., or The Nephew was a wealthy merchant and political figure in colonial Albany, New York. Early life Livingston was born in 1663 in Edinburgh, Scotland. He was the son of James Livingston (1646–1673) and nephew of Robert Livingston the Elder. Once established in Albany, his uncle wrote to his father in Edinburgh, advising him to send his son Robert. Robert the Younger emigrated to North America, by way of London, in November 1687.
