Robert Lane (died 1768)
Robert Lane (5 August 1732 – May 1768) was a British Member of Parliament. He was the only son of George Fox, MP for York, who adopted the name of Lane in 1750. He was an unsuccessful candidate to join his father as MP for York in 1758, but was elected unopposed when his father retired at the 1761 general election. Lane did not stand at the next general election in 1768 due to ill-health, and he died in May that year. Robert Lane (1527 – c. 1588) was an English politician. He was the son of Sir Ralph Lane and Lady Maud Parr (a daughter of William Parr, 1st Baron Parr of Horton and cousin of Queen Catherine Parr. Robert George Lane (January 15, 1882 – November 20, 1940) was a Canadians, Canadian amateur association football, soccer player who competed in the 1904 Summer Olympics. Robert John "Rocky" Lane (12 February 1946 – 13 July 1979) was a Victorian police detective who was murdered in the line of duty. He was also an Australian rules footballer who played two senior games with Carlton in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Lane, who hailed from Kerang, had joined the Victoria Police before he was recruited to Carlton. Former teammates remember him turning up to training in his police uniform. He managed only the briefest of opportunities at the VFL level, coming on late in the last quarter in both of his appearances. He transferred to Williamstown, and later transferred to the country as his career progressed. Bob Lane (born April 12, 1959) is a former gridiron football quarterback who played in the United States Football League (USFL). He played college football at Northeast Louisiana. College career Lane started his collegiate career at Louisiana State. He suffered a knee injury and broke his foot as a freshman and redshirted his sophomore season. He returned as a redshirt sophomore and played mostly defensive back and was the third string quarterback as a redshirt junior before transferring to Northeast Louisiana for his fourth season of NCAA eligibility. In his only season with the Indians, Lane started one game but was mostly used as a "relief pitcher" during games, completing 93 of 198 pass attempts for 11 touchdowns and 4 interceptions. Robert Lane (died 1719) was a pirate active in the Caribbean and off the coast of Africa. He is best known for sailing with Edward England. History Edward England had taken the ship ''Pearl'' (renamed ''Royal James'') in late 1718, pirating between the Azores and Cape Verde. In spring 1719 he took a number of ships near Gambia. Several he burned or looted and let go, but he kept two. One of them was the 4-gun, 18-man ''Mercury'', commanded by Captain Maggot out of London, which he captured on 29 May.
