Robert Marion "Young Bob" La Follette Jr. (February 6, 1895 – February 24, 1953) was an American politician serving as a United States Senate, U.S. Senator from Wisconsin from 1925 to 1947. A member of the La Follette family, he was a son of United States House of Representatives, U.S. Representative, U.S. Senator and Governor of Wisconsin, Wisconsin Governor Robert M. La Follette, Robert M. La Follette Sr., and father of Attorney General of Wisconsin, Wisconsin Attorney General Bronson La Follette. As co-founder of the Wisconsin Progressive Party, Progressive Party and ally of the Farmer-Labor Party in adjacent Minnesota, La Follette kept the Progressive Party alive in the US Senate until his defeat by Joseph McCarthy in 1946 United States Senate election in Wisconsin, 1946. Wisconsin () is a state in the upper Midwestern United States. Wisconsin is the 25th-largest state by total area and the 20th-most populous. It is bordered by Minnesota to the west, Iowa to the southwest, Illinois to the south, Lake Michigan to the east, Michigan to the northeast, and Lake Superior to the north.
