Robert Hunter (floruit, fl. 1748–1780) was a portrait-painter and a native of Ulster. He studied under the elder Pope, and had a considerable practice in Dublin in the middle of the eighteenth century. He modelled his tone of colouring on the painting of old masters. Biography Hunter was born in Ulster at an unknown date. By 1748 he was creating portraits. Robert George "Robbie" Hunter is a fictional character from the Australian soap opera ''Home and Away'', played by Jason Smith. He made his first on screen appearance on 25 November 2003. Robbie's storylines have included adjusting to a new stepfamily, an HIV scare, his relationship with and subsequent marriage to Tasha Andrews, standing trial for the murder of his grandfather and becoming a father. Robert Brockie Hunter, Baron Hunter of Newington LLD MBE DL FRSE (14 July 1915 – 24 March 1994) was a physician and university administrator. He was the personal physician to Field Marshal Montgomery, during the Second World War in North west Europe from 1944 to 1945. To friends and colleagues he was known as Bob Hunter. Life He was born on 14 July 1915 the son of Margaret Thorburn (née Brockie) and Robert Marshall Hunter. He was educated at George Watson's College in Edinburgh then studied Medicine at the University of Edinburgh graduating MB ChB in 1938. In the Second World War he served in the Royal Army Medical Corps and was later appointed as personal physician to Field Marshal Montgomery. He was demobilised with the rank of Major and returned to Edinburgh to work under Derrick Dunlop. Sir Robert Hunter (27 October 1844 – 6 November 1913) was a solicitor, civil servant and co-founder of the National Trust. From the 1860s Hunter was interested in conservation of public open spaces, and worked with other pioneers in this field, including Octavia Hill and Hardwicke Rawnsley. After acting as adviser to Hill in her campaigns to save Hampstead Heath and other open spaces, he worked with Rawnsley to save land in the English Lake District from industrial development. In 1893 the three campaigners agreed to set up a national body to acquire vulnerable properties and preserve them for the nation. At Hunter's suggestion it was entitled "the National Trust for Places of Historic Interest or Natural Beauty", generally known simply as "the National Trust". Robert Hunter (27 November 1792 – 7 September 1848) was a Scottish merchant and unofficial diplomat in Siam during the reign of King Rama III. Hunter settled in Bangkok in 1824 and served as an intermediary between Westerners and the court until his departure from the country in 1844 over a trade dispute with the king. Robert "Robbie" Hunter (born 22 April 1977) is a retired South African professional road racing cyclist who competed professionally between 1999 and 2013. Hunter competed with UCI ProTeam during his final professional season. Career Hunter became the first South African to compete in the Tour de France, when he did so in 2001. In 2006, Hunter rode for in the UCI ProTour, but after their disbandment he signed for UCI Continental Circuits team for 2007.
