Robert Hall Haynes
Robert Hall Haynes, Order of Canada, OC, Royal Society of Canada, FRSC (August 27, 1931 – December 22, 1998) was a Canadians, Canadian geneticist and biophysicist. He was the Distinguished Research Professor in the Department of Biology at York University. Haynes was best known for his contributions to the study of DNA repair and mutagenesis, and for helping promote the concept of terraforming through his invention of the term, ecopoiesis. Haynes was one of the earliest geneticists to recognize the fundamental biologic importance of the DNA damage (naturally occurring), vulnerability of DNA to damage and therefore the central role of DNA repair processes. As he noted, “DNA is composed of rather ordinary molecular subunits, which certainly are not endowed with any peculiar kind of quantum mechanical stability. John Meisel
John Meisel (born October 23, 1923) is a Canadian political scientist, professor, and scholar, and former chairman of the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission. He has written extensively on various aspects of politics, notably on parties, elections, ethnic relations, politics and leisure culture, and, at the beginning of his academic career, international politics. He has been a pioneer in Canada of research on electoral behaviour, political parties and the relationship between politics and leisure culture, particularly the arts. Throughout his career he has examined the cohesion (or its absence) of the Canadian communities. Jean-Pierre Wallot
Jean-Pierre Wallot (May 22, 1935 – August 30, 2010) was a Canadian historian, educator, civil servant and former National Archivist of Canada. Born in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, Quebec, he graduated from the Université de Montréal in 1954. He also received a Master's and Doctorate from the same university. Wallot worked as a journalist from 1954 to 1960. From 1966 to 1969, he was a historian with the National Museum of Man in Ottawa. He has held a number of senior administrative positions at the Université de Montréal including Chairman, Department of History (1973–1975), Vice-Dean Studies (1975–1978) and Vice-Dean Research (1979–1982) in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, and Vice-President Academic (1982–1985). From 1985 until 1997, he was National Archivist and from 1993-1998 served as the first chairperson of UNESCO's Memory of the World Programme.
