Robert Haskins Miller (March 3, 1919 – September 10, 2009) was the Chief Justice of the Kansas Supreme Court from 1988 to 1990. Richard Winn Holmes
Richard Winn Holmes (February 23, 1923 – September 4, 1999) was a justice of the Kansas Supreme Court from September 17, 1977, to September 1, 1990, and chief justice from September 1, 1990, to August 31, 1995. Holmes was appointed to replace Robert H. Kaul, joining the court at the same time as Kay McFarland. Prior to the supreme court appointment Holmes had worked for the law firm Holmes, Mellor, Schaefer and Compton in Wichita, Kansas, and was also the chairman of the Wichita Bar Association's Ethics and Grievance Committee. In 1992 he was awarded the "Award of Merit" from the American Judges Association, an award that was renamed in 2000 to be the "Chief Justice Richard W. Holmes Award of Merit". In 1959 he founded the North American Judges Association, and was the chairman of the Kansas Judicial Council for two years. Kansas () is a state in the Midwestern United States. Its capital is Topeka, and its largest city is Wichita. Bob Abbott
Bob Abbott (November 1, 1932 – March 23, 2010) was an American lawyer and jurist who served as a justice of the Kansas Supreme Court from September 1, 1990, to June 6, 2003. Early life and education Abbott was born in Hodgeman County, Kansas. He earned an associate of arts degree from Dodge City Junior College, a Bachelor of Science from Emporia State University in 1956, and a law degree from Washburn University School of Law in 1960. He later in 1986 received a Masters in Law from the University of Virginia. Career Abbot served in the United States Air Force, where he was a navigator on an Douglas C-124 Globemaster II. He worked as a lawyer for 17 years for a Junction City law firm. Prior to being appointed to the Kansas Supreme Court Abbott, had been the chief judge of the Kansas Court of Appeals.
