Robert Gaudreau
Robert René Gaudreau (born March 8, 1944) is an American former ice hockey defenseman and Olympian. Gaudreau played with Team USA at the 1968 Winter Olympics held in Grenoble, France. He previously played for the Brown Bears at Brown University. He is the father of former NHL player, Rob Gaudreau Robert Rene Gaudreau (born January 20, 1970) is an American former professional ice hockey player. Defenseman
Defence or defense (in American English) in ice hockey is a player position that is primarily responsible for preventing the opposing team from Goal (ice hockey), scoring. They are often referred to as defencemen, D, D-men or blueliners (the latter a reference to the blue line in ice hockey which represents the boundary of the offensive zone; defencemen generally position themselves along the line to keep the puck in the zone). Harry Orr
Henry Andrews "Harry" Orr was a Canadian ice hockey defenseman who was an All-American for Cornell. Career Orr was a member of Ned Harkness' first recruiting class when he arrived at Cornell University in 1963. Orr began playing with the varsity team the following fall and provided an instant impact on the blue line, scoring 16 goals as a Sophomore and finishing third on the team in scoring. As a junior Orr's scoring decreased as he focused primarily on keeping the puck away from his goaltender and Cornell became a defensive powerhouse, surrendering just 54 goals in 27 games. Orr was named to the All-ECAC First Team and the team recorded 20 wins for the first time. Orr helped the team to a second-place finish in the ECAC Tournament and was named to the All-Tournament First Team. Due to a disagreement between the Ivy League and the NCAA, Cornell declined its invitation to the national tournament. The ECAC Hockey Best Defensive Defenseman is an annual award given out at the conclusion of the ECAC Hockey ECAC Hockey is one of the six conferences that compete in NCAA Division I college ice hockey, ice hockey. The conference used to be affiliated with the Eastern College Athletic Conference, a consortium of over 300 colleges in the eastern United ... regular season to the best defensive forward in the conference as voted by the coaches of each ECAC team. The 'Outstanding Defenseman' was first awarded in 1962 but discontinued following the 1967 season. Tom Ross (ice Hockey Defenseman)
Thomas Ross is an American retired ice hockey defenseman and marine who was a two-time All-American for Boston University. Early life Ross was born in West Roxbury neighborhood of Boston. College hockey He was varsity defenseman for Boston University during the program's renaissance in the mid-1960s. A part of Jack Kelley's first recruiting class for BU, Ross helped the Terriers prevent nearly 30 additional goals against than the previous season. The team had a breakout year in 1965 and Ross led BU to its best season in 17 years, compiling a 25–6 record and winning their first conference title. Ross placed on both the All-American and First Team All-ECAC rosters and was named as the ECAC Most Outstanding Defenseman. The Terriers faltered in the conference semifinal and failed to advance to the NCAA tournament. As a senior, Ross lead the Terriers to a second-place finish in their conference.
