Robert Ehsan
Robert Hassan Ehsan (born May 3, 1982) is an American college basketball coach that is currently an assistant coach for the Stanford Cardinal men's basketball, Stanford Cardinal. From 2016–2020, he was the head men's basketball coach at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). A native of Sacramento, California, Ehsan was a four-year player at UC Davis Aggies men's basketball, UC Davis. He was a team captain as a senior in 2005. Ehsan served as an assistant coach at the University of Maryland from 2008 to 2011. When Gary Williams resigned, Ehsan was named interim head coach. He spent a season as an assistant at Virginia Tech before becoming an assistant coach at UAB Blazers men's basketball, UAB in 2012. Stanford Cardinal Men's Basketball
The Stanford Cardinal men's basketball team represents Stanford University in Stanford, California, United States. The school's team currently competes in the Pac-12 Conference. They are coached by Jerod Haase and play their home games at Maples Pavilion. Stanford began varsity intercollegiate competition in men's basketball in 1914. The Cardinal have won 13 conference championships (8 in the PCC and 5 in the Pac-10), the last in 2004, and one NCAA championship, in 1942. 2016–17 UAB Blazers Men's Basketball Team
The 2016–17 UAB Blazers basketball team represented the University of Alabama at Birmingham during the 2016–17 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Blazers, led by first-year head coach Robert Ehsan, played their home games at the Bartow Arena as members of Conference USA. They finished the season 17–16, 9–9 in C-USA play to finish in a tie for seventh place. They defeated Charlotte in the first round of the C-USA tournament before losing to Louisiana Tech. 2019–20 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Season
The 2019–20 NCAA Division I men's basketball season began on November 5, 2019. The first tournament was the 2K Sports Classic and the season concluded prematurely on March 12, 2020. The 2020 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament was scheduled to end in Atlanta on April 6, 2020, but was ultimately canceled. All other postseason tournaments were canceled as well. Practices officially began in late September. On March 12, 2020, the NCAA announced that all remaining winter and spring championships for both men's and women's sports were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was the first cancellation in the history of the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament. The NCAA did not name an official national champion after the tournament was canceled. The 2019 College Basketball Invitational (CBI) was a single-elimination men's college basketball tournament consisting of 16 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I teams that did not participate in the 2019 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament or the NIT.
