Robert Dickinson (British Columbia Politician)
Robert Dickinson (1835 – November 1, 1889) was an English-born businessman and political figure in British Columbia. He represented New Westminster City in the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia from 1875 to 1878. He was born in Liverpool and came to British Columbia in 1859 with his mother Eliza, his step-father Thomas Harris and his brothers Frank and Charles. Dickinson had been a timber merchant's apprentice in Liverpool. He worked in his step-father's butcher shops, eventually taking over the operation in New Westminster. He served as president of the municipal council for New Westminster from 1863 to 1865 and was mayor from 1874 to 1875, from 1880 to 1881 and from 1883 to 1888. Dickinson also served as president of the local Mechanics' Institute and of the Royal Columbian Hospital. He died in New Westminster at the age of 53. Robert Edmund Dickinson (1 August 1862 – 1947) was an English banker and Conservative Party politician. Life The son of Edmund Henry Dickinson (1821–1896), son of William Dickinson (1771–1837), and his wife Emily Dulcibella Eden, daughter of Robert Eden, 3rd Baron Auckland, Bishop of Bath and Wells, he was from a Somerset background, but was born near London on 1 August 1862. He was educated at Eton College, and matriculated at Trinity College, Cambridge in 1880, graduating B.A. in 1884. Dickinson went to work in Stuckey's Bank. He was a Justice of the Peace for Somerset, and an officer in the Somerset Imperial Yeomanry. He was elected Member of Parliament for in 1899, as a Conservative, holding his seat until 1906; and also in 1899 was Mayor of Bath. He was a resident of The Albany from 1902 to 1910. Robert Latou Dickinson (1861–1950) was an American obstetrician and gynecologist, surgeon, maternal health educator, artist, sculptor and medical illustrator, and research scientist. Early life Robert Latou Dickinson was born on February 21, 1861, in Jersey City, New Jersey. He was the son of Horace and Jeannette Latou Dickinson. He became a noted obstetrician, gynecologist, surgeon, research scientist, author, and public health educator. He was an unusually prolific artist, carver and sculptor, who used his skills to illuminate his professional work and delight friends and family. Robert Dickinson (born July 25, 1954) is a television lighting designer. His career, spanning decades, has focussed on awards shows, music shows, game shows, talk shows, and special events, which make up his over 1500 on screen television credits. In 1990 Dickinson founded Full Flood, Inc., a consortium of lighting designers and directors of photography for the multi-camera television industry. Dickinson has been involved with many high-profile shows, including the Academy Awards, multiple Super Bowl Halftime Shows, multiple Olympic Opening Ceremonies, the 2010 Shanghai Expo, among others.
