Robert Delaney (cat Burglar)
Robert Augustus Delaney (died 1948) was a British cat burglar, who indeed is credited as being the first such thief. His two main tools were a length of black silk rope, and a long, slender tool which could undo latches. Dressed in formal formal wear, evening wear, he would use the rope to scale wealthy homes, and then enter the windows with the slender tool. In 1924, Scotland Yard finally succeeded in apprehending him, and he spent four years in jail, after which he was arrested and convicted multiple times. He died on 14 December 1948 in Parkhurst Prison. References Further reading

Robert Mills Delaney, sometimes incorrectly spelled Delany (24 July 1903 – 21 September 1956) was an American composer and teacher. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Delaney began studying the violin as a child in Hanover, Pennsylvania, with Walter Shultz. His musical education continued at the Combs College of Music, where he studied with Henry Schradieck and William Geiger. In 1921, Delaney began undergraduate studies in music at the University of Southern California, but he left the school in 1922 to accompany his parents, Charles Roderic and Anna Louise (''née'' Ritchie) Delaney, on a trip around the world. After returning from the trip, Delaney resumed his music studies but now in Europe: from 1925–1928, he attended the École Normale de Musique de Paris; the Sorbonne (as an auditor); and the Conservatoire Américain de Fontainebleu, France. Robert James Delaney (born September 8, 1984) is an American college baseball coach and former professional pitcher. Delaney played college baseball at St. John's University from 2004 to 2006 for head coach Ed Blankmeyer. He played for the Minnesota Twins and Tampa Bay Rays of Major League Baseball (MLB). Bob Delaney (born ) is a former politician in Ontario, Canada. He was the Liberal member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 2003 to 2018 who represented the ridings of Mississauga West and Mississauga—Streetsville. Background Delaney was born in Montreal, Quebec, and has a Bachelor of Science degree in physics from Concordia University in that city. Robert J. Delaney (born November 1, 1951) is a former undercover New Jersey state trooper and professional basketball referee in the National Basketball Association (NBA) who officiated from the 1987–88 NBA season up until the 2010–11 NBA season. Beginning the 2006–07 NBA season, Delaney had officiated in 1,182 regular season games, 120 playoff games, and seven NBA Finals games. In addition, he was assigned to the 1998 NBA All-Star Game. Robert Joseph DeLaney (April 21, 1924 – November 25, 2008) was an American sportscaster. A 1942 graduate of Elmira Free Academy, DeLaney served in the United States Army in the Pacific theater during World War II, stationed in New Caledonia. After returning to the States, he attended Syracuse University and worked with radio station WFBL in Syracuse. When the Boston Red Sox and Boston Braves decided to separate their radio coverage in 1951, Curt Gowdy, Tom Hussey and DeLaney were hired to call Red Sox games on WHDH. At the end of the 1954 season, DeLaney was hired to replace Ernie Harwell on New York Giants broadcasts. When the Giants moved to San Francisco in 1958, DeLaney was replaced by local announcer Lon Simmons.
