Robert D. Workman
Robert DuBois Workman (June 7, 1885 – June 20, 1977) was the U.S. Navy chief of chaplains during most of World War II from 1937 to 1945 and oversaw an increase of chaplains from less than 90 to more than 2800. He was of the Presbyterian faith. Workman was the first Chief of Chaplains to be promoted to rear admiral while still on active duty. On February 28, 1905, Workman enlisted in the Marine Corps. He served four years there before enrolling at the College of Wooster. Workman graduated in 1913 and then entered the Princeton Theological Seminary. In May 1915, he entered the chaplain corps as a lieutenant junior grade. Zanesville is a city in and the county seat of Muskingum County, Ohio, United States. It is located east of Columbus and had a population of 24,765 as of the 2020 census, down from 25,487 as of the 2010 census.
