Robert Corbett (British Army Officer)
Major General Sir Robert John Swan Corbett, (born 16 May 1940) was the last Commandant of the British Sector in Berlin. Military career Educated at Woodcote House School and Shrewsbury School, Corbett was commissioned into the Irish Guards in 1959.Debrett's People of Today 1994 He became Commanding Officer of the 1st Battalion Irish Guards in 1981. He became Chief of Staff to British Forces in the Falkland Islands in 1984 and Commander 5th Airborne Brigade in 1985. He went on to be Director of Defence Programmes at the Ministry of Defence in 1987 and the last Commandant of the British Sector in Berlin prior to the German reunification in 1990. The Most Honourable Order of the Bath is a British order of chivalry founded by George I on 18 May 1725. Major-General Patrick Guy Brooking (4 April 193722 January 2014) was a British Army officer who served as commandant of the British Sector in Berlin. Early life Brooking was born on 4 April 1937. He was educated at Charterhouse School, a public boys boarding school. Military career As part of National Service, Brooking was commissioned into the Royal Armoured Corps as a second lieutenant on 23 June 1956. On 4 April 1958, he transferred to the 5th Royal Inniskilling Dragoon Guards and was promoted to lieutenant. On 4 April 1964, he was promoted to captain.
