Robert Mather Chamberlin (June 7, 1920 – September 10, 2013) was an American politician in the state of South Dakota who was a member of the South Dakota House of Representatives from 1955 to 1964. Hecla is a city in Brown County, South Dakota, United States, located only a few miles south of the North Dakota border. The population was 193 at the 2020 census. State Highway 37 runs along the east side of town. History Hecla was platted in 1886. It was named after Hekla, a stratovolcano in Iceland. A post office has been in operation in Hecla since 1886. The lieutenant governor of South Dakota is the second-ranking member of the executive branch of South Dakota state government and also serves as presiding officer of the South Dakota Senate.
