Norwich was a borough constituency in Norfolk which was represented in the House of Commons of England from 1298 to 1707, in the House of Commons of Great Britain from 1707 to 1800, and in the House of Commons of the United Kingdom from 1801 until it was abolished for the 1950 United Kingdom general election, 1950 general election. Consisting of the city of Norwich in Norfolk, it returned two members of parliament (MPs), elected by the Plurality-at-large voting, bloc vote system. Robert Baxter (October 15, 1940 – August 25, 2010) was an American performing-arts critic and academic who wrote theatre, opera, and classical music criticism for the ''Courier-Post'' for close to 30 years. ''The Philadelphia Inquirer'' stated that his "writing helped advance the South Jersey arts scene", and ''Opera News'' wrote that Baxter was "highly discerning and scrupulously honest, and had a well-deserved reputation as a tough but fair critic whose coverage of theater, opera and classical music in Philadelphia and southern New Jersey was highly valued and respected by his readers and by his colleagues." Life and career Born and raised in Merced, California, Baxter was educated at Stanford University where he earned both a Bachelor of Arts and a PhD in Classics. Robert Baxter (executioner)
Robert Orridge Baxter (c. 1878 – 1961) was an English executioner from Hertfordshire. His career lasted from 1915 to 1935, during which he carried out 44 hangings and assisted at 53 others. Career Baxter worked at his first hanging, as an assistant to Thomas Pierrepoint, on 15 July 1915. He assisted both Pierrepoint and John Ellis (executioner), John Ellis sporadically over the next few years. On 12 August 1924, he participated in his first job as chief executioner when he hanged Frenchman Jean-Pierre Vaquier. He would, for the next decade, be the second-most active executioner in England, behind only Pierrepoint. They each received jobs on a regional basis, and Baxter was responsible for nearly every execution carried out in London. He carried out 24 consecutive hangings at Pentonville (HM Prison), Pentonville Prison. Bobby Baxter (footballer, Born 1911)
Robert Denholm Baxter (23 January 1911 – April 1991) was a Scottish footballer best known for his time with English club Middlesbrough. Career Baxter was born in the Gilmerton area of Edinburgh. A dominating centre half and a great tackler, he joined Middlesbrough from junior club Musselburgh Bruntonians in 1931 after being spotted by manager Peter McWilliam. The match McWilliam had been to Scotland to watch had been cancelled and after going to watch Musselburgh instead, he spotted the young defender and decided to sign him. Baxter went on to play 247 times for Middlesbrough, playing in nine different positions and later became club captain. He remained at Middlesbrough until 1946, but played for both Heart of Midlothian and Hibernian in unofficial matches during World War II. Robert Denholm "Bobby" Baxter (born 4 February 1937) is an English former professional footballer born in Redcar, Yorkshire, who played in the Football League for Darlington, Brighton & Hove Albion and Torquay United. He is the son and namesake of Scotland and Middlesbrough footballer Bobby Baxter. Career Baxter began his career by signing a professional contract on joining Darlington in November 1959. He began his professional career as a forward and was Darlington's top scorer for two seasons. After playing 64 league games and scoring 30 times he moved to Brighton & Hove Albion in June 1961 with Dennis Windross moving in the opposite direction. He had to wait until 25 November that year for his Brighton debut, at the Goldstone Ground against Preston North End. At Brighton he was converted to a wing half or full-back, and eventually made 195 league appearances, scoring six times, before moving to Torquay United in July 1967. Mad-Dog (Robert "Buzz" Baxter) is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Publication history Buzz Baxter's first appearance was in ''Miss America Comics'' #2 (1944), as the boyfriend of Patsy Walker. He continued to appear as a supporting character of Patsy until her comic was cancelled in 1965. Robert Andrew Baxter (October 16, 1879 – 1947) was a farmer and political figure in Ontario. He represented Oxford South in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1929 to 1934 as a Liberal. He was born in Brownsville, the son of John Baxter and Sarah Bigham, and was educated in Brownsville and Tillsonburg Tillsonburg is a town in Oxford County, Ontario, Canada with a population of 18,615 located about 50 kilometres southeast of London, on Highway 3 at the junction of Highway 19.
