Robert Barr (field Hockey)
Robert Barr (born 1978) is a Scottish field hockey player who played for the Scotland men's national field hockey team. He plays his club hockey for Grange Hockey Club in Edinburgh. Barr has also represented Scottish Universities and Edinburgh University Hockey Club. Barr has been captain of Grange for several seasons. Barr has represented Scotland in South Africa, Italy, Pakistan, Russia and Switzerland. During the 2009 season he was selected to represent the Highland Jaguars in the Great Britain Super League. With his club side, Grange, he played in the 2007–08 and 2012–13 Euro Hockey Leagues. Robert Barr was a Scottish footballer who played as a right back, mainly for Third Lanark, making over 300 appearances for the Glasgow club in all competitions over 13 years. Career Having joined the ''Warriors'' from a spell in the Army where he had risen to the rank of captain in the Black Watch, Barr won the Scottish Football League championship in 1903–04, playing in 24 of the 26 fixtures, and played in two consecutive Scottish Cup finals – a win over Rangers in 1905 via a replay and a loss to Heart of Midlothian in 1906. In the first few years of his career between 1897 and 1901, he also won the Glasgow Merchants Charity Cup twice and was a beaten finalist on a further occasion, then claimed two winner's medals in the Glasgow Cup medals and was a runner-up twice in the space of five years between 1902 and 1907. A benefit match against Queen's Park was played in 1906.

Robert Barr (1865–1935) was a Scottish footballer who played in the Football League for Bury, Preston North End and Stoke. Career Barr started his career with Hurlford United before moving south of the border to Stoke in 1888 in time for the first season of the Football League. Robert Barr (8 March 1862 – 27 April 1947) was an Australian politician. Born in Ayrshire to ironworker James Barr and Janet Watson, his family arrived in Castlemaine in 1862, moved to Fryerstown in 1870 and Bendigo in 1872. He was a pupil teacher at Ironbark before becoming a journalist with the ''Bendigo Independent'' from 1878 to 1881, when he founded Fitzroy City Press with two partners. He was editor and owner from 1883 to 1900. Elected to Fitzroy City Council in 1898, he served until 1942, including two periods as mayor (1902–03, 1918–19). On 29 November 1882 he had married Catherine Jane Rose Wilson, who died in 1884; on 25 October 1905 he married Mary Pugh, ''née'' Corrick. Robert Barr (16 September 1849 – 21 October 1912) was a Scottish-Canadian short story writer and novelist who also worked as a newspaper and magazine editor. Early years in Canada Barr was born in Glasgow, Scotland to Robert Barr and Jane Watson. In 1854, he emigrated with his parents to Upper Canada. His family settled on a farm near the village of Muirkirk. Barr assisted his father with his work as a carpenter and builder and was a teacher in Kent County, then in 1873 entered the Toronto Normal School. After graduating, he taught in Walkerville and in 1874 became headmaster of the Central School at Windsor in 1874. During the 1870s, he wrote humorous pieces for various publications, including the Toronto ''Grip'', under the pseudonym "Luke Sharp", which he took from an undertaker's sign.
