''Robert and Bertram'' (Polish: ''Robert i Bertrand'') is a 1938 Polish comedy film directed by Mieczysław Krawicz and starring Helena Grossówna, Eugeniusz Bodo and Adolf Dymsza. It was inspired by a comedy sketch by Johann Nestroy which was in turn based on an 1856 farce '' Robert and Bertram'' by the German writer Gustav Räder featuring two wandering vagrants with hearts of gold. Mieczysław Krawicz
Mieczysław Krawicz (2 February 1893, Warsaw – 17 September 1944, Warsaw) was a Polish film director from Warsaw. Life He was born on 1 January 1893 in Warsaw, in the Catholic family of Juliusz and Antonina (1857–1941). He graduated from high school and the Higher Trade Courses in Warsaw. After returning home from further studies in Germany, he started working with the "Sfinks" film company. Initially, he dealt with office matters, later designing film decorations, organizing shooting and production, ending with directing. In 1926 he played the role of Brochwicz in the adaptation of ''Trędowata''. In 1930, together with Stanisław Szebego and Zbigniew Gniazdowski, they founded the "Blok" film company, in which he initially acted as production manager and then a film director. From 1930 he was the vice-president of the Film Producers Union, he was also the Secretary General of the Supreme Council of the Film Industry in Poland. Mieczysława Ćwiklińska-SteinsbergĆwiklińska was the maiden name of Ćwiklińska's grandmother, Anna Trapszowa. (née Mieczysława Trapszo, ; 1 January 1879 – 28 July 1972) was a Polish film actress, stage actor, and singer. She was often nicknamed Lińska or Amiette. Born in Lublin, Poland, Ćwiklińska made her debut in 1900 at the Teatr Ludowy (''The People's Theatre'') in Warsaw in Michał Bałucki's play ''Grube Ryby''. She was married three times, her last husband was the book publisher Marian Steinsberg. In 2013 the Polish Post issued a commemorative stamp of her, with Helena Grossówna and Adolf Dymsza. Jacek Rotmil
Jacek Rotmil (1888–1944) was a Russian-born art director and production designer who worked on 100 films during his career Following the First World War, Rotmil entered the booming German film industry and worked prolifically until 1933. Following the Nazi rise to power, Rotmil went into exile in Poland where he was employed frequently on Polish and Yiddish productions. He had first become involved in the Polish film industry in 1930 when working on the sound version of the Polish film ''Exile to Siberia'' in Berlin. After the Germans took over Poland in 1939, Rotmil went into hiding. He was later arrested and executed in Pawiak prison shortly before the Warsaw Uprising.
