Robert William Otto Allen (18 March 1852 – 9 December 1888) was a Danish pianist, composer and conductor. He was the brother of conductor Georg Frederik Ferdinand Allen. He trained at the Royal Academy of Music as a student of Edmund Neupert. Robert Livinston Allen (1916 – October 9, 1982), was an American professor of linguistics and education at Teachers College, Columbia University known for his development of Sector Analysis, a grammatical system used in the teaching and analysis of languages in the United States and around the world. Born in 1916 in Hamadan, Iran, the son of Presbyterian missionaries, Robert Allen was educated at Phillips Exeter Academy and graduated as valedictorian from Hamilton College where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He achieved worldwide attention for his rescue operations of the whooping crane (''Grus Americana'') in the 1940s and 1950s.Allen helped save the roseate spoonbill from extinction. Robert Allen (1772–1805) was a British journalist and surgeon, famous for having introduced Robert Southey and Samuel Taylor Coleridge. A contemporary of Leigh Hunt, Charles Lamb, and Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Bob Allen attended Christ's Hospital and left the school as a Senior Grecian. He attended University College, Oxford, where, in his rooms, the historic meeting between Robert Southey and Coleridge took place. He was also an associate of Hazlitt and William Godwin, and a number of scholars have speculated that he was responsible for the acquaintance of Lamb and William Godwin. Coleridge lamented in a letter that Godwin was having a negative influence on Allen and had cause him to become a religious sceptic. Allen married a widow much older than himself who had children as old as he was. Lamb is known to have strongly objected to the marriage. Robert Paul Allen (born November 14, 1978) is an American former professional ice hockey defenseman who played in the National Hockey League for the Edmonton Oilers and the Boston Bruins. Playing career As a youth, Allen played in the 1991 and 1992 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournaments with a minor ice hockey team from Beverly, Massachusetts. Allen played for Boston College, from which he was selected fifty-second in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft by the Boston Bruins. He was subsequently traded to the Edmonton Oilers on the 2002 trade deadline, in exchange for Sean Brown. Robert Hall Allen (11 June 1886 – 20 September 1981) was a British Army officer and an English footballer who played as a forward. Playing career In 1914, Allen signed for West Ham United from amateur club Corinthian, after impressing against West Ham at Upton Park on 27 April 1914 in a charity match for West Ham Hospital. ''The Westminster Gazette'' described Allen's performance as "heavy and fast", exerting "wonderful control over the light, dry ball, dribbling in a style reminiscent of the old-time Corinthians" whilst "giving perfect passes".
