Robbie Tew
Robbie Tew is a former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1980s. He was part of the inaugural Newcastle Knights squad in 1988. He was born in Australia. Background Tew played rugby league for Redcliffe Dolphins and Toowoomba Clydesdales before signing with newly admitted side Newcastle in 1988. Playing career Tew made his first grade debut for Newcastle in the club's inaugural game and scored the side's first ever points in a 28–4 loss against Parramatta. Tew went on to make a further 6 appearances in 1988 with his final game being a 24–16 loss against Illawarra. Post playing Tew was the coach of Workington Town in the UK in 1997. Tew later became Newcastle's footman and in 2020 was made a life member of the club. Newcastle Knights
The Newcastle Knights are an Australian professional rugby league club based in Newcastle, New South Wales. They compete in Australasia's premier rugby league competition, the National Rugby League (NRL) premiership. Playing in red and blue, the Knights joined the top tier competition in 1988, 79 years after the previous Newcastle based team, the Newcastle Rebels had departed the Sydney competition with the formation of a separate league competition based in the Newcastle region. The club has won two premierships over its history (1997 and 2001) and is one of only two clubs (the other being the Wests Tigers) that has never lost a grand final in which it has participated. Workington Town
Workington Town R.L.F.C. is a semi-professional rugby league club playing in Workington in west Cumbria. Their stadium is Derwent Park, which they share with Workington Comets, a speedway team. They became Rugby League Champions in 1951 and also won the Challenge Cup in 1952. Their nickname is simply 'Town', though they are sometimes referred to as 'Worky' by fans of other teams. Their local rivals are Whitehaven, who joined the league three years after Workington Town. Redcliffe Dolphins
The Redcliffe Dolphins are a semi-professional rugby league club based in Redcliffe, Queensland, Australia. Founded in 1947, they were accepted into the Brisbane Rugby League (BRL) premiership competition in 1960, and since 1996 have played in the Queensland Cup. The Redcliffe Dolphins thrived in the BRL. However, the 1988 admission of the Brisbane Broncos team in the National Rugby League (NRL) competition caused the decline of the BRL. Although a separately licensed Dolphins (NRL) team is scheduled to compete in the fully professional 2023 national competition, the Redcliffe squad will continue to play in the Queensland competition. Toowoomba Clydesdales
The Toowoomba Clydesdales are a rugby league football club based in Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia. The Clydesdales originally played in the Queensland Cup from the competition's inception in 1996 until 2006, and were the feeder club for the Brisbane Broncos between 1999 and 2006. They will re-enter the Queensland Cup in 2023 as the Western Clydesdales. History "Galloping Clydesdales" Historically, the Clydesdales were the representative team for the Toowoomba competition.
