Robb Thomas
Robb Douglas Thomas (born March 29, 1966) is a former American football wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL) who played from 1989 to 1998. High school career Thomas graduated from Corvallis High School in Corvallis, Oregon in 1985 and starred in football and track. He helped lead the Corvallis Spartans to a 3A Oregon State Championship in 1983. College career At Oregon State University, Thomas set many records. He currently is second in "all purpose running yards" at OSU. His total of 3,379 yards for rushing, receiving and punt and kick-off returns during his career (1985–1988) is behind only that of Ken Carpenter's 3,903 yards from 1947-1949. Ken Carpenter (American Football)
Kenneth Leroy Carpenter (February 26, 1926 – January 28, 2011) was an American football halfback who played for the Cleveland Browns in the National Football League (NFL) the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the Canadian Football League (CFL), and the Denver Broncos in the American Football League (AFL) in the 1950s and 1960. Following his playing career, Carpenter coached during the 1960s in the CFL, NFL and a variety of smaller leagues in the United States. Carpenter was from Oregon and became a standout at Oregon State University, where he played between 1946 and 1949. The Browns selected him in the first round of the 1950 draft, making him their first selection since joining the league. Carpenter played with the Browns between 1950 and 1953, a span during which the team won one NFL championship and played in three more. He was named to the Pro Bowl in 1951. The 1989 NFL draft was the procedure by which National Football League teams selected amateur college football players. It is officially known as the NFL Annual Player Selection Meeting. The draft was held April 23–24, 1989, at the Marriott Marquis in New York City, New York. The league also held a supplemental draft after the regular draft and before the regular season. Four of the first five players selected in the draft – quarterback Troy Aikman, running back Barry Sanders, linebacker Derrick Thomas, and cornerback Deion Sanders – would be inducted to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
