Rob Wotton
Rob Wotton is a soccer presenter for Sky Sports and on Sky Sports News. He is a fan of Chelsea FC and his commentary has appeared on their club DVD. He has covered England games home and away for Capital Gold and worked with Jonathan Pearce. Career As part of the team that kicked Sky Sports News off way back in 1998, he has become a fixture on the screens and has presented most of, if not all, of the shows at one time or another. His most regular role though is the early Saturday evening slot, where he takes the viewers through the Premier League talking points and Football League goals as soon as Jeff Stelling and the Soccer Saturday boys are off air. Before beginning his 12-year service (and counting) Wotton was the sports editor at Capital Radio in London, where Euro 96 and the 1998 World Cup in France were among the highlights, as well as annual broadcasts from Wimbledon. Sky Sports News (SSN) is a British pay television, paid television sports news channel run by Sky Limited, Sky, a division of Comcast. History Since 1992, Sky Sports had broadcast sports news, initially a brief ''Football Update'' and later this was expanded into a 30-minute programme called ''Sky Sports Centre''. These programmes were generally broadcast on weekdays at 6pm and 10pm. Sky Sports News launched on 1 October 1998, the launch date of BSkyB's Digital Satellite service, and was BSkyB's first digital only channel. On 10 April 2000, Sky Sports News relaunched as Sky Sports.com TV, to tie with the launch of the SkySports.com website. Capital Gold
The Capital Gold radio station started in London in 1988 on Capital Radio's AM frequency, after the Independent Broadcasting Authority had urged stations to end simulcasting (broadcasting the same programmes simultaneously on AM and FM) and threatened to remove one of their frequencies if simulcasting continued. The original DJs on the early incarnation of Capital Gold included Tony Blackburn, Kenny Everett and David Hamilton. The hiring of radio personalities to host networked shows continued to be a feature of the Capital Gold network as it grew. Jonathan Pearce (commentator)
Jonathan Mark Pearce (born 23 December 1959) is an English sports commentator most known for his work on '' Robot Wars'' and more recently football for the BBC and BT Sport. He worked for Radio Five Live and ''Match of the Day'', as well as participating in other lower-profile sports programmes. Early life and career Growing up, Pearce had the intention of becoming a footballer, which subsequently ended when he broke his leg. He started his career in broadcasting at BBC Radio Bristol, and his first match commentary was Bristol Rovers against Exeter City in the League Cup. He became a sports editor at the age of 23. In 1987, he moved to London and Capital Radio where he launched ''Capital Gold Sportstime'' on Capital Gold a year later. He commentated on a handful of minor Premier League games for Sky Sports in the 1992–93 season, before his Radio 5 Live and ''Match of the Day'' career.
