Rob Waring
Rob Waring (born December 3, 1956 in Yonkers, New York) is an American-Norwegian Contemporary music composer and performer (drums and vibraphone), commonly associated with symphony orchestras and jazz ensembles. Career Waring studied with Roland Kohloff, who had just become timpanist of the New York Philharmonic, while still in high school. Then he continued studies on percussion at the Juilliard School with Saul Goodman and Elden "Buster" Bailey (1974–79), and earned his Bachelor and Master of Music Degrees. During that period, he also took elective courses in composition with Stanley Wolfe, and studied jazz vibraphone in 1975 with Dave Samuels. He started a career as a freelance musician in New York, and worked in symphony orchestras, jazz groups, ensembles for new music, and an experimental ensemble for homemade instruments. Søyr
Søyr (established 1976 in Trondheim, Norway) is a Norwegian musical group, led from the start of trumpeter Torgrim Sollid. Biography Søyr was initially inspired by folk music from Stor-Elvdal (among others Ole Mørk Sandvik) and released the album ''Søyr'' (1977) and ''Cierny Peter'' (1983), and performed at Kongsberg Jazzfestival 1977. The band is still active, and was involved on tour in South Africa in the summer of 2004. The Free State «Søyr» was established in Moldejazz 1997. The band moved (with leader Sollid) to Oslo and assumed a more avant-garde style with a big band flair. Elin Rosseland (born 5 April 1959 in Norway) is a singer, bandleader, and composer who studied at the Norwegian Academy of Music and is known from collaborations with Vigleik Storaas, Johannes Eick, Sidsel Endresen, Eldbjørg Raknes, Christian Wallumrød, and Johannes Eick. Lars Klevstrand (born 30 September 1949) is a Norwegian singer, guitarist, composer and actor. He was born in Drammen, Buskerud, the son of Olav Klevstrand and Grethe Sofie Larsen, and was brought up in Bærum. Career His debut album was ''Vi skal ikkje sova'' from 1968. Peter Opsvik is a Norwegian industrial designer best known for his innovative and ergonomic chairs, and the father of Jazz bass player Eivind Opsvik. Kjell Samkopf (born 6 April 1952, in Bærum, Norway) is a Norwegian musician (drums) and composer, married 1993 to the dancer Mona Walderhaug (born 21 December 1956).
