Robert Howard (playwright)
Sir Robert Howard (January 1626 – 3 September 1698) was an English playwright and politician. He fought for the Royalist cause in the English Civil War. Life He was born the 6th son of Thomas Howard, 1st Earl of Berkshire and his wife Elizabeth. As the 18-year-old son of a Royalist family, he fought at the battle of Cropredy Bridge and was knighted for the bravery he showed there. In the years after the English Civil War his royalist sympathies led to his imprisonment at Windsor Castle in 1658. After the Restoration, he quickly rose to prominence in political life, with several appointments to posts which brought him influence and money. He was Member of Parliament for Stockbridge in the Cavalier Parliament (1661 to 1679) and for Castle Rising (1679 to 1681 and 1689 to 1698), and believed in a balance of parliament and monarchy. Robert Howard (born July 8, 1996) is an American former competitive Swimming (sport), swimmer who specialized in the sprint Freestyle swimming, freestyle events. He represented the DC Trident in the International Swimming League. Early life Robert Howard was born July 8, 1996, in Alexander City, Alabama, as the son of Scott and Beverly and Bob Howard. Howard attended Benjamin Russell High School and swam for Auburn Aquatics. He was a two-time USA Scholastic All-American in 2013 and 2014 and swam collegiately at The University of Alabama from 2015 to 2019. Robert ('Nosey Bob') Howard
Robert Rice Howard (known as "Nosey Bob" Howard) (''c''. March 1832 – 3 February 1906) was an Australian executioner. He was employed as a hangman for the colony of New South Wales from 1875, initially as an assistant hangman. Howard held the position of senior executioner from 1877 until he retired in 1904. Throughout a career spanning twenty-eight years, Robert Howard assisted or supervised the execution of sixty-two persons in New South Wales. Howard had a facial disfigurement, resulting in the loss of his nose, that occurred while working as a cabman in the mid-1870s. His missing nose and lengthy high-profile career as an executioner led to him being generally known, in newspapers and common parlance, as 'Nosey Bob'. He is a former editor of the '' Current Affairs Bulletin''. Sir Robert Howard (1385—1436), Knight, of Stoke by Nayland, Suffolk, was an English nobleman, the eldest son of John Howard (c. 1366 - 1437), of Wiggenhall and East Winch, Norfolk, by the latter's second wife, Alice Tendring. Alice was also an heiress, although not to the same degree as John Howard's first wife, Lady Plaiz, who had brought him estates worth over £400 per annum. They had two sons; Robert was the elder. His younger brother, Henry Howard (d. 1446) was later murdered by retainers of John, Baron Scrope of Masham, after his parents and brother had died. In 1420, Howard married Lady Margaret Mowbray, daughter of Thomas de Mowbray, 1st Duke of Norfolk (d.1399). She outlived Robert, surviving until 1459. Her sister, Isabel, had married James, later Baron Berkeley, which, it has been said, "forged a link between the Berkeleys and the Howards that continued for two centuries." Robert William Howard (born 15 September 1999) is an English footballer who plays as a midfielder for club Bishop's Stortford. After playing youth football for Southend United, Arsenal and Colchester United, Howard started his career at Harlow Town, on loan from Southend United, making his debut in 2019. Loan spells at Dartford and Braintree Town followed, before making his senior debut for Southend United in League Two in December 2020. Robert Howard (born 1 March 2002) is an American freestyle and folkstyle wrestler who competes collegiately at 125 pounds. In freestyle, he claimed the 2018 Youth Summer Olympic gold medal and is a three–time US Cadet World Team Member. In college, Howard is a sophomore at 125 pounds for the Penn State Nittany Lions. Robert William Howard (born January 29, 1963) is an American professional wrestler, actor, and former auto racer and wrestling trainer/host, better known by the ring name Hardcore Holly or Bob Holly. He is best known for his 16-year career with the World Wrestling Federation/World Wrestling Entertainment (WWF/E) where he also worked under the ring names Thurman "Sparky" Plugg, Bob "Spark Plug" Holly, Bombastic Bob, and "the Big Shot".
