Rob Hirst
Robert George Hirst (born 3 September 1955) is an Australian musician from Camden, New South Wales. He is a founding member of rock band Midnight Oil on drums, percussion and backing vocals (sometimes lead vocals) from the 1970s until the band took a hiatus in 2002. The band resumed activity as a group in 2017. Hirst also wrote a book, ''Willie's Bar & Grill'', recounting the experiences on the tour Midnight Oil embarked on shortly after the September 11 attacks, 11 September terrorist attacks in 2001. The Backsliders
The Backsliders are an alternative-traditional country-rock band. Chip Robinson teamed up with Steve Howell to form the band as a duo in 1991 in Athens, GA. The remaining members had all joined the group by 1994, and the group disbanded in 1999. They reunited in late 2012. Violent Femmes
Violent Femmes are an American folk punk band from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The band consists of founding members Gordon Gano (guitar, lead vocals) and Brian Ritchie (bass, backing vocals), joined by multi-instrumentalist Blaise Garza (joined 2004), and drummer John Sparrow (joined 2005). Former members of the band include drummers Victor DeLorenzo (1980–1993, 2002–2013), Guy Hoffman (1993–2002), and Brian Viglione (2013–2016). Brod Smith
Broderick Smith (born 17 February 1948) is an English-born Australian multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter and sometime actor. He was a member of 1970s bands Sundown, Carson and the Dingoes, 1980s Broderick Smith's Big Combo and he has recorded and performed solo and in duos. He acted on stage in the 1973 Australian version of the rock opera, ''Tommy'', and in minor roles in 1990s TV series, ''Blue Heelers'', '' Snowy River: The McGregor Saga'' and '' State Coroner''. Dom Turner
Dominic Turner is an Australian blues guitarist, vocalist and key songwriter for the Australian blues band ''The Backsliders''. Dom also has a number of solo projects including 'Dom Turner and Supro' and 'Dom Turner and the Nationals'. In 2002, Dom along with Rob Hirst, formed the band Angry Tradesman. He specialises in "bottle neck" slide guitar using resonator guitars as well as 6 and 12 string acoustic and electric guitars. Richard Grossman (bassist)
Richard Grossman is an Australian Rock music, rock musician who has played bass guitar for two iconic bands: Divinyls and Hoodoo Gurus. Hoodoo Gurus' status on the Australian rock scene was acknowledged when they were inducted into the 2007 ARIA Hall of Fame. For Grossman, this was his second Hall of Fame induction in a row; the 2006 award was for his stint with Divinyls. Hoodoo Gurus
Hoodoo Gurus are an Australian rock band formed in Sydney in 1981, by the mainstay Dave Faulkner (songwriter, lead singer and guitarist) and later joined by Richard Grossman (bass), Mark Kingsmill (drums), and Brad Shepherd (guitar, vocals, harmonica). Their popularity peaked in the mid- to late 1980s with albums ''Mars Needs Guitars!'', ''Blow Your Cool!'' and ''Magnum Cum Louder''. The Swingers
The Swingers were a New Zealand rock band who were together from 1979 to 1982 and whose biggest single was the song " Counting the Beat". Background Formed out of the remnants of the Suburban Reptiles, the founding members were Phil Judd (guitar, vocals), Wayne Stevens ( Bones Hillman) (bass), and Mark Hough (a.k.a. Buster Stiggs) (drums). Formed in 1979, the band released the single "One Good Reason", which was a top 20 hit in New Zealand. They also appeared on the Ripper Records sampler ''AK79'' and established a large live following after a residency at Auckland's Liberty Stage club. In 1980 the band moved to Australia and signed to Mushroom Records for that country, although their New Zealand releases remained on Ripper. Bones Hillman
Wayne Stevens (May 1958 – 7 November 2020), known by the stage name Bones Hillman, was a New Zealand musician best known as the bass guitarist for the Australian alternative rock band Midnight Oil, which he joined in 1987 and remained with until his death in 2020. Career Hillman played bass guitar in his first band the Masochists, an early New Zealand punk act, formed with Kevin Gray (vocals), Spike Nasty (drums) and Jimmy Sex (guitar), from the Auckland suburb of Avondale. They were alternatively known as The Metal Masochists, MM, Vandals, and The Avondale Spiders. Peter Gifford
Peter Gifford (born 5 April 1955), sometimes known as "Giffo," is an Australian musician. From 1980 until 1987, he played bass guitar, Chapman Stick and sang backing vocals for Australian rock band Midnight Oil. Midnight Oil Gifford is credited with creating a significant part of the Oils' tight, driving sound, and has been described as being an aggressive bass guitarist. He played on the albums ''Place without a Postcard'' (1981), '' 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1'' (1982), '' Red Sails in the Sunset'' (1984) and '' Diesel and Dust'' (1987), as well the EPs ''Bird Noises'' (1980) and ''Species Deceases'' (1985).
