Rob Graves (guitarist)
Rob Graves (1955 - June 28, 1990), also known as Rob Ritter, was an American guitarist and bassist, born in Detroit, Michigan. Graves was known for his work in the 1970s and 1980s punk scene in Los Angeles, performing with Bags, the Gun Club, 45 Grave, Thelonious Monster and the Loafin' Hyenas. Prior to relocating to LA in February 1978, Graves had played in Phoenix punk band the Exterminators. Graves died in 1990 from a heroin overdose. Graves' death had a profound impact on the punk rock community, prompting Courtney Love to dedicate Hole's ''Pretty on the Inside'' to him. A 1990 memorial concert was held for Graves at the Roxy in West Hollywood, featuring three of the bands he had performed in. Roxy Theatre (West Hollywood)
The Roxy Theatre (often just the Roxy) is a nightclub on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood, California, owned by Lou Adler and his son, Nic. History The Roxy was opened on September 23, 1973, by Elmer Valentine and Lou Adler, along with original partners David Geffen, Elliot Roberts and Peter Asher. They took over the building previously occupied by a strip club owned by Chuck Landis called the Largo. (Adler was also responsible for bringing the stage play ''The Rocky Horror Show'' to the United States, and it opened its first American run at The Roxy Theatre in 1974, before it was made into the movie ''The Rocky Horror Picture Show'' the next year.) Recorded in the band's early days, it contains previously unreleased songs (many originally written and recorded by guitarist Paul B. ''Stormy Weather'' is the third album by the American band Thelonious Monster, released in 1989. The CD version included their previous album, ''Next Saturday Afternoon''. The band supported the album by touring with Red Hot Chili Peppers and Fishbone. "So What If I Did" was a minor modern rock hit. Production The album was produced by John Doe. "For My Lover" is a cover of the Tracy Chapman song; "See That My Grave Is Kept Clean" is a cover of the Blind Lemon Jefferson song. Many of the songs are about accepting personal responsibility. Edward Colver did the photography for ''Stormy Weather''. "Sammy Hagar Weekend" is about teenage troublemakers in Anaheim; it was added to album when the band realized they had too many serious songs. Critical reception Contemporary critical reception of the album has been generally positive. Ned Raggett of AllMusic praised the album. Miami (The Gun Club Album)
''Miami'' is the second studio album by American rock band The Gun Club, released in 1982. It was released on Animal Records, founded by guitarist Chris Stein of Blondie. Stein also produced the album. Debbie Harry, also of Blondie, appears as a backing singer on various tracks on the album under the pseudonym "D.H. Laurence Jr." The album front cover photograph doesn't include bassist Rob Ritter who had already left the band. Before leaving, Ritter first taught all the bass-lines to Patricia Morrison, his replacement in the Gun Club and former bandmate in the Bags. Billy Idol had met up with Pierce in an L.A. bar around the time of ''Miami'' and later revealed his commercial hit "White Wedding" had been an attempt to emulate the "Mother of Earth" from the album.
