Roaring Rapids (Disney)
Roaring Rapids is a river rapids ride that is currently operating at Shanghai Disneyland. The ride opened along with the rest of the park on June 16, 2016. Ride experience Roaring Rapids travels through the rivers flowing from the Roaring Mountain or Apu Taku in the native tongue of the local Arbori tribe. According to legend, the endless flow of waters from the mountain is the domain of the Guardian of the Water, a giant crocodilian beast named Q’aráq (), a beast that the League of Adventurers is interested in learning more about. Guests begin by boarding rafts and set off upriver to Field Camp Beta. However, a fallen tree blocks the way and diverts the current in another direction, into the mountain. River Rapids Ride
A river rapids ride (or river rafting ride) is an amusement ride that simulates whitewater rafting. History The river rapids ride concept was proposed by Bill Crandall (general manager of AstroWorld in Houston) and developed by Intamin. AstroWorld introduced the world's first river rapids ride, Thunder River, in 1980 and popularized a concept which can now be found at most major amusement parks. Despite being an incredibly popular attraction, AstroWorld's Thunder River (being a prototype) was initially plagued by issues that were corrected in the first few seasons of operation. The boat bumpers were re-designed, portions of the wide river channel were narrowed or barricaded to prevent boats from bottle-necking or getting caught in a backflow, and a planned whirlpool effect was scrapped. Disney's Fastpass
FastPass, FastPass+, and MaxPass were virtual queue systems created by the Walt Disney Company to speed up customer access to certain attractions and amenities at the Disney resorts and theme parks. First introduced in late 1999 as a virtual queue, the systems all allowed guests to avoid long lines at the attractions on which the system was installed, freeing them to partake in other attractions during their wait. There was generally no extra fee for the service. The original FastPass system was still featured except Walt Disney World, which used FastPass+, along with both Shanghai Disneyland and Disneyland Paris, which replaced the FastPass system with a pay-for-use system called Disney Premier Access.
