Roald Storsletten
Roald Storsletten (2 September 1915 – 6 February 1991) was a Norwegian newspaper editor. He was hired in the newspaper ''Dagbladet'' in 1940, was promoted to news editor in 1954 and served as chief editor from 1958 to 1980, from 1973 jointly with Arve Solstad, and from 1977 also together with Jahn Otto Johansen. ''Dagbladet'' (lit.: ''The Daily Magazine'') is one of Norway's largest newspapers and is published in the tabloid format. It has 1,400,000 daily readers on mobile, web and paper. Traditionally ''Dagbladet'' is considered the main liberal newspaper of Norway, with a generally liberal progressive editorial outlook, to some extent associated with the movement of cultural radicalism in Scandinavian history. The paper edition had a circulation of 46,250 copies in 2016, down from a peak of 228,834 in 1994. The editor-in-chief is Alexandra Beverfjord, the political editor is Geir Ramnefjell, the news editor is Frode Hansen and the culture editor is Sigrid Hvidsten. The ''Great Norwegian Encyclopedia'' ( no, Store Norske Leksikon, abbreviated ''SNL''), is a Norwegian-language online encyclopedia. The online encyclopedia is among the most-read Norwegian published sites, with more than two million unique visitors per month. Paper editions 1978–2007 The ''SNL'' was created in 1978, when the two publishing houses Aschehoug and Gyldendal merged their encyclopedias and created the company Kunnskapsforlaget. Up until 1978 the two publishing houses of Aschehoug and Gyldendal, Norway's two largest, had published ' and ', respectively. The respective first editions were published in 1907–1913 (Aschehoug) and 1933–1934 (Gyldendal). Arve Solstad
Arve Solstad (15 November 1935 – 3 June 2016) was a Norwegian newspaper editor. He was born in Orkdal as a son of farmer Johan Solstad (1896–1989) and Marit Skauge (1910–2000). He finished his secondary education in Orkdal in 1955, worked one year as editor-in-chief of '' Akershus Folkeblad'' before enrolling in studies of political science at the University of Oslo. He wrote for the newspaper ''Dagbladet'', including summaries of debates in the Norwegian Students' Society. He was hired permanently in ''Dagbladet'' after graduation in 1964. Also, in 1961 he married nurse Inger Marie Richter. He won the Narvesen Prize for journalism already in 1968. From 1969 to 1973 he was the political editor of the newspaper, and in 1973 he became editor-in-chief. Jahn Otto Johansen
Jahn Otto Johansen (3 May 1934 – 1 January 2018) was a Norwegian journalist, newspaper editor, foreign correspondent and non-fiction writer. He worked for the newspaper '' Morgenposten'' from 1956 to 1966, for the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK) from 1966 to 1977, and was chief editor of ''Dagbladet'' from 1977 to 1984. He has been a foreign correspondent for NRK in Moscow, Washington, D.C., and Berlin. He wrote about sixty books, including several bestsellers. He received the Cappelen Prize in 1982, shared with Bjørg Vik, who died six days after Johansen. Gunnar Larsen (writer)
Gunnar Otterbech Larsen (5 February 1900, in Oslo – 5 November 1958) was a Norwegian journalist, writer, and translator. He worked in the newspaper ''Dagbladet'' from 1923 to 1958, where he was news editor from 1930 and became editor-in-chief with Helge Seip in 1954. His first novel, ''I sommer'', was published in 1932. It was followed by ''To mistenkelige personer'' (1933), a crime novel based on actual events that took place in 1926. ''To mistenkelige personer'' was praised by many critics, including Sigurd Hoel. Haagen Ringnes: ''"Den boken skulle jeg gjerne ha skrevet!"''. Article in 1983 edition of ''To mistenkelige personer'' by Gunnar Larsen ( Gyldendal Norsk Forlag). Both ''I sommer'' and ''To mistenkelige personer'' were inspired by Ernest Hemingway's writings. Helge Seip
Helge Lunde Seip (5 March 1919 – 29 January 2004) was a Norwegian politician for the Liberal Party and later the Liberal People's Party. He was born in Surnadal. At a young age he became involved in the Young Liberals, the youth wing of the Liberal Party. In the local chapter of Oslo he was a member of the board from 1937 to 1939, and deputy chairman from 1939 to 1945. From 1945 to 1947 he was a board member of their national organization. In 1948 he became a deputy member of the Liberal Party national board, advancing to regular board member in 1952. He continued in this position, becoming national party leader in 1970. He was elected to the Parliament of Norway from Oslo in 1953, and was re-elected on three occasions in 1957, 1965 and 1969. In between he headed the Liberal ballot in the 1961 election, but the Liberals had no MPs elected. In 1965 he was appointed Minister of Local Government in the centre-right Borten's Cabinet.
