Roadchef is a company which operates 21 motorway service areas in the United Kingdom. It is the third-largest motorway service area operator in the country, behind Moto and Welcome Break and followed by Extra. History Roadchef was founded in July 1973 as a joint venture between Lindley Catering Investments and Galleon World Travel, with the first Roadchef opening at Killington Lake Services on the M6. By 1998, Roadchef had built a portfolio of 21 sites. A large expansion occurred in 1998 when Roadchef agreed to purchase Blue Boar Group and Take A Break for a total of £80 million, gaining the company an extra 4 services plus 1 under-construction site. In September 2014, it was announced that owners Delek Group were selling Roadchef to Antin Infrastructure Partners for £153 million. Norton Canes Services is a Motorway Service Station on the M6 Toll, in the village of Norton Canes near the towns of Brownhills, Cannock, and Walsall, in Staffordshire, England. Operated by Roadchef, it is the only motorway service area on the M56 and the last before heading into North Wales. History The site was originally planned as Hapsford services in mid-November 1969, when proposed as a 28-acre site, three quarters mile from Elton Green.
