''Road to Perdition'' is a 2002 American crime drama film directed by Sam Mendes and written by David Self, based on the first volume of the graphic novel series of the same name by Max Allan Collins and Richard Piers Rayner. The Academy Award for Best Original Score is an award presented annually by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) to the best substantial body of music in the form of dramatic underscoring written specifically for the film by the submitting composer.
