Rizzieri Rodeghiero
Rizzieri Rodeghiero (December 5, 1919 – January 12, 1996) was an Italian cross-country and Nordic combined skier who competed in the 1948 Winter Olympics. He is the younger brother of Christiano Rodeghiero Cristiano Rodeghiero (22 April 1915 – 23 September 1999) was an Italian cross-country skier who competed in the 1948 Winter Olympics. He was the older brother of Rizzieri Rodeghiero Rizzieri Rodeghiero (December 5, 1919 – January 12, .... Competitive cross-country skiing encompasses a variety of race formats and course lengths. Rules of cross-country skiing are sanctioned by the International Ski Federation and by various national organizations. International competitions include the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, the FIS Cross-Country World Cup, and at the Winter Olympic Games. Such races occur over homologated, groomed courses designed to support classic (in-track) and freestyle events, where the skiers may employ skate skiing. Nordic combined is a winter sport in which athletes compete in cross-country skiing (sport), cross-country skiing and ski jumping. The Nordic combined at the Winter Olympics has been held since the first ever 1924 Winter Olympics, Winter Olympics in 1924, while the FIS Nordic Combined World Cup has been held since 1983. Many Nordic combined competitions use the Gundersen method, where placement in the ski jumping segment results in time (dis)advantages added to the contestant's total in the cross-country skiing segment (e.g. the ski jumping winner starts the cross-country skiing race at 00:00:00 while the one with the lowest jumping score starts with the longest time penalty). Nordic combined at the 1948 Winter Olympics consisted of one event, held from 31 January to 1 February. The ski jumping portion took place at Olympiaschanze St. Moritz, while the cross-country portion took place around the hills of St. Moritz. Medal summary Medal table Norway, which had won every previous Olympic medal in Nordic combined, were stunned to see Finland and Sweden split the three medals in St. Moritz.
