Riza Bey Gjakova
Riza Kryeziu (1847-1917), known as Riza Bey Gjakova ( sq, Riza bej Gjakova, tr, Yakovalı Rıza Bey), was an Albanian nationalist figure and guerrilla fighter, an influential bey in the Gjakova region, then part of the Vilayet of Kosovo, Ottoman Empire, and one of the activists of Albanian national movements of early 20th century. Life Riza Bey was a member of the League of Prizren. According to Ekrem Vlora's memories, Riza Bey was the involved in the Attack against Mehmed Ali Pasha, performed by the Gjakova Committee of the League of Prizren, which resulted in the assassination of Abdullah Pasha Dreni-Kyeziu (his distant cousin), and Marshal Mehmed Ali Pasha. The Ottoman marshal had been sent to overview the cession of Plav-Gusinje to the Principality of Montenegro, which had caused the ensuing Battle of Novšiće. Gjakova
Gjakova, ) and Đakovica ( sr-Cyrl, Ђаковица, ) is the seventh largest city of Kosovo and seat of Gjakova Municipality and Gjakova District. The city has 40,827 inhabitants, while the municipality has 94,556 inhabitants. Geographically, it is located in the south-western part of Kosovo, about halfway between the cities of Peja and Prizren. It is approximately inland from the Adriatic Sea. Junik ( sq, Junik, sq-definite, Juniku; sr, Јуник, Junik) is a town located in Junik Municipality in the Gjakova District in western Kosovo. According to the 2011 census, the town of Junik has 6,053 inhabitants, while the municipality has 6,084 inhabitants. Kryeziu Brothers
The Kryeziu family was notably powerful and influential in Gjakova and other parts of Dukagjin during the 19th and 20th century. They were part of the Ottoman cast. Biography Riza Bey Kryeziu was active during the Albanian Revolt of 1912; one of the organizers of the League of Junik and activist of Albanian national movements of the early 20th century. His sons, Gani, Ceno, Hasan, and Said were influential during the early and mid 20th century in southern Kosovo and north Albania. Said Bey Kryeziu (10 April 1911 - 16 May 1993), also known as Seit Bey or Seit Beg, was a Kosovo Albanian anti-communist resistance fighter. Biography Said Bey was born in Gjakova, Vilayet of Kosovo, Ottoman Empire. He was a member of the influential Kryeziu family. His father, Riza Bey Kryeziu, was one of the activists of Albanian national movements during the early 20th century. In 1933 he went to Paris, where he studied diplomacy for a short time. He returned from France and resided in Belgrade from 1939 to 1941, where he was supervised by the Yugoslav authorities and helped Albanians to go back and fight against the Italians. Gani Bey Kryeziu (1900 – 1952) was a Kosovo Albanian anti-communist resistance fighter. Biography Gani Kryeziu was born in Gjakova, Vilayet of Kosovo, Ottoman Albania, as a member of powerful Kryeziu family, a ruling family derived from the Ottoman cast. Ceno Kryeziu (1895–1927), also known as Ceno beg Jakova, was an Albanian political figure of the 1910s, 1920s. He was a member of the notable Kryeziu family from Gjakova, known to be trusted by Yugoslavian authorities inside Albanian political circles. Biography Ceno Kryeziu was the son of Riza Bey Kryeziu, a well known leader in the Gjakova region and activist of Albanian national movements of the early 20th century. Isa Boletini
Isa Boletini (; 15 January 186423 or 24 January 1916) was an Albanian revolutionary commander and politician and rilindas from Kosovo. As a young man, he joined the Albanian nationalist League of Prizren and participated in a battle against Ottoman forces. After this, he was temporarily loyal to the Ottoman sultan and built a power base in the Mitrovica area. He served as the commander of Ottoman palace guards in Istanbul for four years (1902–06), returning with a land grant, officer rank and the command of the local militia. Idriz Seferi (14 March 1847 – 25 March 1927) was an Albanian leader and guerrilla fighter (rebel). A member of the League of Prizren and League of Peja, he was the right-hand man of Isa Boletini, with whom he organized the 1910 Uprising against the Ottoman Empire in the Kosovo Vilayet. After the suppression of the uprising, Seferi continued warfare, in the 1912 Uprising.
