Rivne Nuclear Power Plant
The Rivne Nuclear Power Plant ( uk, Рівненська АЕС), also called Rovno is a nuclear power plant in Varash, Rivne Oblast, Ukraine. The Rivne Nuclear Power Station were the first VVER-400 reactors to be constructed in Ukraine. As the plant was being designed and constructed it was under the name of "West-Ukraine NPP" however during commissioning it was renamed to "Rivne NPPP". The Regulatory Committee of Ukraine, during a meeting Varash, adopted а decision оn extending the lifetime of Rivne power units 1 and 2 bу 20 years. The power station has four reactors with a nameplate capacity of just over 2500 MWe. Varash ( uk, Вараш), from 1977 to 2016 Kuznetsovsk ( uk, Кузнецо́вськ, links=no), is a city in Rivne Oblast, Ukraine. It hosts the administration of Varash urban hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine and Varash Raion, one of the raions of Ukraine. Population: The mayor of Varash is Oleksandr Menzul. Styr River
The Styr (; ; ) is a right tributary of the Pripyat, with a length of 494 km. Its basin area is 13,100 km2 located in historical region of Volhynia. The Styr begins near Brody, in the Ukrainian Oblast of Lviv, then flows into Rivne Oblast, Volyn Oblast, then into Brest Region of Belarus where it finally flows into the Pripyat. During the Khmelnytskyi Uprising, in 1651 at Styr river took place important battle of Berestechko between armies of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and the Cossacks of Bohdan Khmelnytsky. The water-water energetic reactor (WWER), or VVER (from russian: водо-водяной энергетический реактор; transliterates as ; ''water-water power reactor'') is a series of pressurized water reactor designs originally developed in the Soviet Union, and now Russia, by OKB Gidropress.
