Rives McBee
Rives McBee (pronounced "Reeves") (born October 31, 1938) is an American professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour and the Senior PGA Tour. Amateur career McBee was born in Denton, Texas, and has called nearby Irving home for most of his life. As an amateur he qualified for the 1966 U.S. Open at Olympic Club. He "startled the golf world" when he tied the U.S. Open record with a 65. He eventually finished T-13. It was his best performance at a major championship. Professional career He played on the PGA Tour from 1966 to 1971, before accepting a job as the head golf professional at Las Colinas Country Club in Irving. He was a founding member of the Northern Texas Junior Golf Association, and a former Northern Texas PGA ''Teacher of the Year''. McBee won the club pro's national title in 1973. Denton, Texas
Denton is a city in and the county seat of Denton County, Texas, United States. With a population of 139,869 as of 2020, it is the 27th-most populous city in Texas, the 197th-most populous city in the United States, and the 12th-most populous city in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. Don Bies
Don Bies (born December 10, 1937) is an American professional golfer who has won tournaments on the PGA Tour, the Senior PGA Tour (now known as the Champions Tour), and in the Pacific Northwest Section of the PGA of America. Born in Cottonwood, Idaho, Bies attended Ballard High School in Seattle, Washington, and turned pro in 1957. His only PGA Tour win came at the 1975 Sammy Davis Jr.-Greater Hartford Open. His best finish in a major was a T-5 at the 1968 U.S. Open that was played at Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, New York. Bies is a three-time winner of the Washington Open (stroke play) and a six-time winner of the Washington State Match Play Championship and has won a host of other events in the Pacific Northwest. He left the PGA Tour in 1980 in order to devote full-time to his restaurant he had opened just outside Seattle. This is a list of the 1966 PGA Tour Qualifying School graduates. The tournament was played over 144 holes at the PGA National Golf Club in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida in late October. The tournament represented the totality of the year's PGA Tour Qualifying School; there were no local or regional sections. Tournament summary There were 99 players in the tournament and 32 earned their tour cards. Harry Toscano was medalist with a 4-under-par 572. The professional Marty Bohen was well within the cut-off entering the final day. However, he played poorly and failed to graduate by one shot. "I was destroyed," Bohen said later in life. PGA Cup
The PGA Cup is a men's golf competition for club professionals played between a Great Britain and Ireland team and a United States team. The winning team is presented with the Llandudno Trophy. The competition is run by the British PGA and the PGA of America. It was first played in 1973 and was an annual event until 1984, after which it became biennial. The 2022 event was held at the Foxhills Golf Club in Surrey, England, the second time that the course had been chosen to host the event. Michael Joseph Hill (born January 27, 1939) is an American professional golfer. Born in Jackson, Michigan, Hill attended Arizona State University in Tempe and turned professional in 1967. Hill had three PGA Tour wins and his best finish in a major was a tie for eleventh at the PGA Championship in 1974.
