Rivervale, Sengkang
Rivervale is a neighbourhood of Sengkang New Town located between Sungei Serangoon and Compassvale. The block numbers of the public apartment blocks in Rivervale begin with the number '1' (1xx). Rivervale was the first neighbourhood of Sengkang New Town to be built, and many of the existing housing estates in Rivervale were completed by the Housing and Development Board (HDB) as early as 1997. Sengkang
Sengkang (, ta, செங்காங்) is a planning area and residential town located in the North-East Region of Singapore. The town is the second most populous in the region, being home to 249,370 residents in 2020. Sengkang shares boundaries with Seletar and Punggol in the north, Pasir Ris and Paya Lebar in the east, Hougang and Serangoon to the south, as well as Yishun and Ang Mo Kio to the west. Originally a fishing village, the area underwent rapid development under the ambition of the Housing and Development Board (HDB) to transform it into a fully mature housing estate. CHIJ Saint Joseph's Convent
CHIJ Saint Joseph's Convent is a government-aided Catholic girls' secondary school in Sengkang, Singapore. The school is one of 11 Convent of the Holy Infant Jesus (CHIJ) schools in Singapore. History The school was founded in 1938, as a private school in a rented house at 15 Flower Road, Singapore 549404. Initially there were 21 pupils and three staff – comprising one nun from the Order of the Holy Infant Jesus and two teachers. Prior to World War II, the enrolment rose to 79 students. After the war, the school reopened in 1945 in a bungalow lent to the school by a neighbour. New school buildings were erected at the original site in 1947, and at 11 Hillside Drive, Singapore 548926 in the 1950s. The school taught both primary and secondary students until 1974. Sengkang MRT/LRT station is a Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) and Light Rail Transit (LRT) interchange station in Sengkang, Singapore. It is an interchange between the North East line (NEL) and Sengkang LRT (SKLRT). Along with Buangkok station, it is one of the two MRT stations located within the Sengkang planning area. The LRT station opened on 18 January 2003 along with the other East loop stations on the SKLRT, with the NEL station opening later on 20 June.
