Riverton is a small town in the Mid North of South Australia, in the Gilbert Valley. It is situated on the Gilbert River, from which the town derives its name. Both the Gilbert Valley and Gilbert River were named after South Australian pioneer, Thomas Gilbert. Riverton was first settled in 1856, as a settlement along the bullock track from the mining town of Burra to the capital city Adelaide. It grew from a plan designed by a James Masters who had established the nearby town of Saddleworth. The streets of Riverton received their names chiefly from James Masters and his friends. Riverton is a city in Crow Wing County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 117 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Brainerd Micropolitan Statistical Area. Riverton is located between Brainerd and Ironton, where the Mississippi River flows past the western end of the Cuyuna iron range. History In 1855, the Rabbit Lake Indian Reservation for the Rabbit Lake Band of Mississippi Chippewa was established in the area by the Treaty of Washington also known as the Treaty with the Chippewa (). Soon afterwards, a village of Ojibway (or Ogibeway) was established at the mouth of Rabbit River. However, maps from the 1860s depict the village of Ojibway instead located either at the mouth of the Cedar River or at the mouth of the Ripple River. Riverton was incorporated in 1912. Riverton is a city in Fremont County, Wyoming, United States. The city's population was 10,682 at the 2020 census, making it the largest city in the county. History The city, founded in 1906, is an incorporated entity of the state of Wyoming. The community was named Riverton because of the four rivers that meet there. The town was built on land ceded from the Wind River Indian Reservation, a situation that often makes it subject to jurisdictional claims by the nearby Eastern Shoshone and Northern Arapaho tribes. A legal ruling on November 7, 2017, by the 10th Circuit Court, ruled again in the EPA reservation boundary dispute. Though the decision was complex, the 10th Circuit Court answered plainly. Riverton was a census-designated place (CDP) in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 6,407 at the 2010 census. Riverton was formerly part of the Riverton-Boulevard Park CDP, which was split up for the 2010 census into Riverton and Boulevard Park. Riverton is an unincorporated community in Coos County, Oregon, United States, on Oregon Route 42S, about up the Coquille River from Bandon. Route 42S is the former alignment of U.S. Route 101. The townsite of Riverton was platted in 1889. Riverton post office was established in 1890 and named for its situation on the river. Orlando A. Kelly, the first postmaster, was also said to have been the first settler there. In 1915 Riverton had a population of 200. At that time Riverton shipped coal mined locally by steamboat to California. The first coal mine opened in the county in 1854 and up to a quarter of people worked in what was then the region's most important industry.
