Riverside Cricket Club
Riverside Cricket Club (RCC) is a cricket team representing Riverside, a suburb of Launceston in the Northern Tasmanian Cricket Association grade cricket competition, in the Australian state of Tasmania. The club is based in the West Tamar Council's Windsor Park precinct and has access to three cricket grounds, two of these are used as junior grounds and are concrete with a synthetic covering and the third is a turf wicket that is used by the senior club and at times representative teams. Teams and Honours The Riverside Cricket Club has four U/13, two U/15 cricket teams in the Northern Tasmanian Cricket league as well as 4 senior men's grade teams and 1 ladies' team. Riverside has won four A-grade NTCA Premierships in; 1968–69, 1976–77, 1977–78, 1980–81. During 1980-81 Riverside was the first club to win all three grade titles in Tasmanian history. Cricket Tasmania (formerly the ''Tasmanian Cricket Association'') is the administrative body for cricket in Tasmania, Australia, and they are based at Bellerive Oval. Elyse Jayne Villani (born 6 October 1989) is an Australian cricketer who played for the Australia national women's team from 2009 to 2019. She has also played domestic cricket for various teams in both the Women's National Cricket League (WNCL) and the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL). Cricket career Villani began playing domestic cricket for Victoria. She played for the Australia under-21 side in 2008. The Hobart Hurricanes (WBBL) are a women's Twenty20 cricket team based in Bellerive, Tasmania. They compete in the Women's Big Bash League. History Formation One of eight founding WBBL teams, the Hobart Hurricanes are aligned with the men's team of the same name. Cricket
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Means of dismissal include being bowled, when the ball hits the stumps and dislodges the bails, and by the fielding side either catching the ball after it is hit by the bat, but before it hits the ground, or hitting a wicket with the ball before a batter can cross the crease in front of the wicket. Tony Benneworth
Anthony John Benneworth (12 December 1950 – 10 March 2018) was an Australian cricketer who played for Tasmania from 1971 until 1979. He was a right-handed batsman and a right-arm medium-pace bowler. He played in Tasmania's inaugural Sheffield Shield team in 1977–78. He was the first Tasmanian to take five wickets in an innings in a Sheffield Shield match, when he took 5 for 115, as well as making 54 and 42, against South Australia in February 1978. Benneworth was the Liberal candidate for Bass in the 2001 federal election but lost to Labor's Michelle O'Byrne. From 1992 to 1998 he served in the Tasmanian House of Assembly.
